My sister Jill is the oldest of the children of Mary, my Dad's first wife. She was known as "the smart one," and has lived up to her reputation. Dropping out of school after fifth grade, she, like her younger sister Saffron, traveled the entire United States and worked at many jobs, including as a woodsperson in Oregon. At the age of 23, she decided to become a doctor and, after getting her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, went to medical school under scholarship at the University of Massachusetts and reached her goal at the age of 31. She is now a family practicioner in Portland Maine, happily married to a banker, Greg, and the mother of a young daughter.

I recently visited Jill for the first time and discovered that she is indeed a great mother, probably a wonderful doctor (I really am in no position to judge, but Dad says she is). She tried to mother me a bit. She is certainly old enough to be my mother, but she is only my sister, so that didn't work out too well. Anyway, like all my brothers and sisteers, she is really neat and I love her.
