James Cameron

Cameron is one of the most recent directors of "event" films, most of which are better than average, thanks to a tense, rollarcoaster-ride feel to his stories. Cameron was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario on August 16, 1954. He started off in working for Roger Cormon as a set designer. He made his debut as a director with the awful horror flick, Piranha II: The Spawning (1982). He first success came when he directed the action-packed feature, The Terminator (1984), which helped boost the reputations of star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cameron.

He has followed it up with success after success. Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989) and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) have all redefined special effects and action filmaking as we know it. Cameron's most recent picture is the multi-million dollar disaster picture, Titanic (1997), about the fate of the doomed passenger liner.
