Burton hit it big with multi-million dollar smash, Batman (1989), based on the much bleaker version of the Dark Knight. He followed it with a sequel, Batman Returns (1992). However, his most brilliant and compassionate film to date, Edward Scissorhands (1990), a sort of Beauty and the Beast fable, continues Burton's theme of social outcasts and the trials of their lives. His most recent work is a biography of the famed "Worst director of all time", Ed Wood (1994). Being a real life social outcast, Wood fits right in with Burton's world. Burton is one of the few true geniuses in Hollywood. He's diverse, interesting, intelligent, and most especially differs from the usual Hollywood way of doing films. I like that in a filmaker.
