Why are there so many love stories coming out these days. First there were films like "Sleepless in Seattle", then "Only You" and now this. Don't get me wrong, I like a good romance and this is okay, but enough already. The plot revolves around a lonely young woman (Sandra Bullock of "Speed") who has nobody to talk to except her cat. She works in a subway booth and admires from her booth a handsome businessman (Peter Gallagher). One day, he's knocked off from the station onto the tracks and is rescued by Bullock from being run over.He goes into a coma and during a visit to the hospital, his family comes and mistakes her for his fiancee. Even though the whole story about her being his fiancee is wrong, she decides to go along with it so that she doesn't break their hearts. She later meets Gallagher's brother (Bill Pullman) and falls in love with him through the course of the movie.
The acting is just fine and the story has a few surprises, including the fact that it was number one in money making at it's opening weekend, but it seems to be the same old story with no real twist. It's still a nice movie to see and I might see it again but can't Hollywood make more out of love stories of today than going back to the old cliche. Still, there are the few surprises that keep it going.

I had heard a lot about this film. I had heard that it was the bomb of the century and also the worst movie in film history. However, it isn't as bad as some people make it out. Just overblown. The story focuses around a young kid (Lawnmower Man's Austin O'Brien) who fantasizes constantly and loves Schwarzenegger films. One day, he gets this magic ticket that transports him right into the movie with Arnold. It's supposed to be a spoof of all the hard-core action films, but it's not in the same line as Naked Gun or Hot Shots. There are funny things about it, like the fact that Arnold's' character in the film within-a-film can't pronounce the name Schwarzenegger, but not enough to sustain an entire 90 minute movie.

Another film from thought-provoking director Spike Lee about race relations. This time, it revolves around an interracial relationship between a black architect (Wesley Snipes) and a white secretary (Annabella Sciorra) and the conflicts that surround them. Included in the conflicts is Snipes' brother (Samuel L. Jackson) who is a crack addict.Lee does a good job at showing different lifestyles of different people and there are some good supporting characters. The only problem is Lee finishes the film rather abruptly, just before we are really getting to know the characters. Still, it's an interesting subject.

The idea sounded good on paper. Peter Pan as a grown-up (Robin Williams) trying to rescue his kids from Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). However, the idea becomes thin after awhile. Hoffman seems rather goofy as Hook while Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell is just plain embarrising.Directed by Steven Spielberg, this has none of the magic or excitement of his other movies to sustain anybody's interest and certainly nobody over the age of 8. It's better for young kids so that's the upside. The down side is that it doesn't give the same excitement as say "Jurassic Park" or Jaws. I'll take the Disney version of the story anyday.
