Death of a Heart

by

Louis Zoch

An emptiness is what I feel,
A hole where love once lived;
No more will that void be filled,
Nothing, more to give.

Days are lost, nights close behind,
Existing day to day;
I see your face, I miss your touch,
Didn't have to end this way.

Cruel twist of fate, love's death dirge,
Ringing in my brain;
A time for us, I thought was here,
Instead now, constant rain.

A sadness overwhelms my soul,
Love will dance no more;
A romantic heart has died today,
Matters not what lays in store
.
From this day I do avow,
No longer will I write;
Pen put away, inkwell dry,
Just teardrops in my heart.
