Festival dream

by

Quietly Wondering

I don't know what is happening
my feet don't touch the ground.
All the feelings i once knew
are memories one weekend past.
I'm in a folklore fairytale
a festival of dreams
whose drums and chants revel in my head
and cling.
Never let go. But he did and had to.
I've skipped decades. And now look forward,
into a life i want
where the passion of the songs and dance,
and fireworks and faeries
live on in our own little world.
Where children run, and laugh
in wings, flying lizard kites.
I revel in my fairytale.
Comforted, soft, warm kisses.
Euphoric ecstasy, embraced.
I never want to get out.
When did real life get so hard?
In that one weekend past?
I had the world and it was taken from me,
miles and years split us apart.
A twisted red silk ribbon torn.
Held by a breaking thread.
Please try, we can use the years
embroider new ones
add sequins and beads,
and name it. Ours.
I only long that the festival in my head
wont go. Or stay as that.

Make Ends Meet

by

Quietly Wondering

Created, moulded, manipulated,
tirelessly forged.
Years of work.
To open a doorway
into this new wide world.
The Pearly Gates?
Or Iron bars.

Locked in life;
but free to do as you please.
bound -within the rules- of living.
Make. Ends. Meet.
Given choices.

One way- the freedom choice.
Take wealth, and the world.
With it take repetition.
Take law, take work.
Years.
Is that really freedom?

Or Locked in life
literature, song,
uniqueness, fun.
Unable to get anywhere
but liberated.
