a moment

can make such a difference
it could be a start
it could be an end

a moment

passes you by and you missed it
a moment gone?
or a lost friend

can't take the moments for granted
'cause they never return
and in the end

a moment

will have been what has made it
a life of dreams
and your Living End

away

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

Why is it alive,
when it's been dead so long.

Why does it exist
in your mind like a song
that won't go away
when you want it to.

Nooo,
it plays and it plays and it plays,
all day.
Over and over and over
again and again and again,
all day.

And you just want it to go away...
you just want it to go away.

Ya,
the healthy ones,
they'll leave you alone.
But this one won't,
it wants to crawl home.

Back home to your mind,
where it can play;
back home to your heart,

take your life away.

And it plays and it plays and it plays,
all day.
Over and over and over
again and again and again,
all day.

And you want it to go away...
you just want it to go away

away

The title would give it away ;)

There's a phrase
that means more than anything
when it's said with heart
and when you know it's true

It's not a question
it's not an answer
it's just some words
a couple of words:

Thank you.

Lost Dreams

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

I used to stare at the clouds
and see faces and things
:-)
childish fantasies and far off dreams
that it makes you feel so good to think about.

Once, I even saw God staring down at me.

Now I see clouds.

---

Beautiful, yes
but clouds just the same
Cumulus, cirrus, stratus
I know them by name

What happened to the days
when my mind was so free
that I could see God
staring down at me

What sucked them up
Took them away
twisted the priorities
to deadlines and pay

Need to get back
back to those days
when the clouds and the dreams
when they ruled the ways

that the heart would follow
and where the mind should be;
I need to feel God
smiling down on me

Agnostic? Athiest?
You still know what I mean
You have a heart
You have your lost dreams

So turn off the radio
ignore that TV
c'mon outside
come play with me

Our hearts will dance
and we'll be filled with glee
then we can face this world
with new serenity

---

So, who else here has let a dream go?

Raise your hand,
let everyone know;
'cause confession is good for the soul.

Confession is good for the soul.

Me, Myself, And...

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

I don't want to fight
that darkness in the caverns of your mind;
'cause you know I'm right:
The comfort of those shadows only hides

what has you trapped
what sets you free
what keeps you from
what you could be
and

I can't see a light
to guide you from that blackness so you'll find
your way from the night,
that masquerades the madness, to unwind

the path to here
the path to me
the path to life
the path you need
and

It will be all right
so just embrace escape and leave behind
all that's caused you fright:
Let go those self-made shackles of your mind

The caverns stay
they'll always be
but you won't need
you'll be with me
and...

An open letter to God

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

I work
I work in silence
but all the work I do
just keeps me from my dreams

I live
in a sea of violence
at least that's what the papers
would have me believe:

There's got to be something outside
that makes this all alright
It's something I can't seem to find
it just evades my sight

Won't you help me
because I'm full of need
I can't seem to be
and I'm calling

---

I sleep
I sleep with no one
Usually doze off on the couch
watching TV

I eat
but not for hunger
because I know I should
it's what my body needs:

I try to keep this thing alive
and often wonder why
What is this great will to survive
just to live a lie

Won't you help me
because I'm full of need
I can't seem to be
and I'm crawling

---

I think
I think I'm pathetic
but I can't help it
I can't help the way I feel

I write
will I regret it
as I pen this tome
the words are very real:

There's got to be something outside
that makes this all alright
It's something I can't seem to find
it just evades my sight

Won't you help me
because I'm full of need
I can't seem to be
and I'm falling

Self Indulgence

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

I see you
and my heart dances
your beauty entrances
your smile captures
and your physique delights

What would have happend
if I hadn't of missed you
might I have kissed you
under ruby rose sunset
of some summer's twilight

I can feel it
the breeze gently blowing
it's wind softly flowing
caressing our bodies
on this warm summer's night

A sweet escape
and we take it
there's nothing can break it
our two hearts together
two spirits in flight

We'd spend the rest of our days
our moments of rapture
forever trying to capture
the passion, the wonder
of that hot summer's night

Can't you feel it?

Bad Day at the Office

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

Do you know what I want?

I want to be somewhere
somewhere alone with you
somewhere warm, quiet and peaceful
somewhere we can be close

It's dark
but we can see each other
because we see each other's light

We share our hearts
and leave the world for a while

We know we have to go back
but
it's ok
it's all right

because we know
we know
we can always come back to this place

What do you want?

Enter Laughing

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

I share your dreams
The dreams don't scare me
they delight

What scares me is
how much it hurts when a dream dies

I hope the dreams live forever
and
I'm not laughing

Average Frustrated Chump

by

Matthew William Hermann Walsh

You ignore me
but I know that
you're the sweetest thing that's come along

Just like chocolates with cherry
you miss them when the're gone
but with care comes worry

And I hope you'll let me know what's going on
I hope you'll let me know what's going on.
