Cogito Ergo Sum

by

Cavaliere Vivente

The evening draws nigh'
as I hear the sun sigh,
Oh what fools ye mortals be
entangled hearts can never see

Lady Luna and her charm
embracing all with silver arms,
Silent witness in the night
lovers words taking flight

Only the faithful shall survive
as illusions come alive,
Heaven's eyes shall light the way
through the thicket and the fray

And the Knight shall remain
in his chivalric refrain,
Bold and true in his heart
from the end to the start

Poeta Avventuroso

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Verily fair lady, I am a Knight
sworn to protect all that is right,
I stand and fight with heavenly might
astride mine horse of pristine white

A warrior bard am I
in the wherefores and the whys,
Gallant, bold, and thunder-strong
I hold my sword, wide and long

On my left I clutch a tome
to but a few it is known,
'tis the fountain of my power
the foundation of my tower

I was knighted by a queen
of a land so serene,
Sir Gauthier of Ancient Rome
that is how I am known

Alas, it is true
we remain but a few,
In our rich and royal hue
it is mediocrity we eschew

Fear not our demise
forever we shall rise,
It is evil we despise
and manipulating lies

Listen well and ye shall hear
look beyond but do not stare,
Bonded together by a prayer
any burden we shall bear

Browsing through centuries seeking a sign
the legacy endures through channels of time,
Heed well, I pray thee, this chivalrous rhyme
the truth is found in the Chalice of the wine

The Petals of the Rose

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Your smile reminds me
of a morning in Spring,
Alive with the sweetness
of all that is good

For an eternal moment
I shall revel in the rebirth,
And calm my fears
in the petals of the rose

Una Notte Magica

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Senza parole
senza fiati
intensamente
incantati

Sensazione
troppo forte
dentro il bacio
della notte

Cuore batte
sangue corre
candela luminosa
lacrima scorre

Dolce sogno
fantasia
favolosa
energia

Due anime
diventano una
nell'abbraccio
della luna

Tutto fermo
ma il nostro respiro
che restera`
in questo giro

In Omne Tempus

by

Cavaliere Vivente

I followed my heart
as it lead me away,
Far from the turmoil
and tumultous fray

A land so inspiring
wrapped in a dream,
Red, white, and green
with homemade ice cream

Its past dances gracefully
across timeless marble trays,
Graciously embracing
tomorrow's yesterday

Pillars of triumph
and statues of glory,
Witnesses to time
and the unending story

The winds have swept
the solitude away,
Ensconced in Her magic
is where I shall stay...

Per Luciana: the heart will always know the way

by

Cavaliere Vivente

The melody gently called me
and beckoned me to follow,
Across a room so lucently white
serene and strangely hollow

Music enveloped the air
with a beauty unexplained,
Wonderfully hypnotic
in its mystical refrain

Then the most enrapturing vision
to ever grace my eyes,
A creature so exquisite
sent from way on high

Her long, flowing hair
rhythmical like a river,
Cascading onto whiteness
my heart began to quiver

The Angel and the piano
were undeniably one,
A musical communion
encircled by the sun

Though I could not see her eyes
I felt them in my soul,
Peacefully confirming
for whom the melody tolls

One can never separate
the music from the heart,
What eludes us on this earth
the eyes of Heaven will impart

And so the music must always play
timeless and transcending,
And the heart will always know the way
for love is never ending...

Anne Marie: Requiescat in Pace

by

Cavaliere Vivente

If I could embrace the sun
or capture a falling star,
If I could take just one day
and save it in a jar

If I could swallow a moonbeam
or witness the heavens above,
How incredible would it be
if I could fly like a dove

If I could dance on a rainbow
or touch an angel's hair
If I could ride a unicorn
or answer just one prayer

If I could see you smile again
and be with you like before,
If I could gaze into your eyes
I would wish for nothing more

Inceptio (The Beginning)

by

Cavaliere Vivente

I strolled alone into the night
crisp and cool the air,
Glowing silver was the light
with a starry moonlight flair

My thoughts wandered here and there
with no precise aim,
Not a worry or a care
nothing much to tame

The evening air embraced my soul
awakening dormant quests,
It seemed to prod and cajole
invading cerebral rest

I stood erect and glanced around
the stillness of the night,
Not a noise or a sound
just a strangely muted might

The nocturnal tranquility
compelled me to explore,
With mere mortal humility
it shook me to the core

How am I to make it so
I am but only one,
What can I do, what must I know
for this battle to be won

The stars seemed to smile
almost poised to talk,
I waited for a while
then resumed my walk

I too am but one
I heard a voice exclaim,
Take a lesson earthly son
for we are all the same

I light the evening sky
together with my friends,
In unison we all try
to accomplish the same end

Whence this voice was emanating
I tried now to determine,
I searched the night while contemplating
as the voice continued its sermon

Hand in hand you'll find the power
with your sisters and your brothers,
Minute by minute and hour by hour
working with each other

The journey begins with you
one candle in the night,
First you're one and then you're two
and slowly you'll see more light

And it shall spread near and far
across the goodly earth,
And you shall be like the stars
filled with heavenly mirth

Peace to you my friends
and may He bless us all,
Serenity without end
from which we may never fall

Il Cammino della Verita`

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Ho girato il mondo
cercando qui e li,
Per trovare quella giusta
cari amici tutto qui

Ho conosciuto donne
belle da morire,
Ho avuto tante storie
senza mai capire

Il tempo e` volato
e mi son trovato qui,
Davanti a questo portone
con le lettere "S" e "P"

Ho busato alla porta
e apparve un vecchietto,
Con due grandi chiavi d'oro
ed un piccolo sacchetto

Non vi raccontero`
come sono arrivato,
Pero` vi diro`
perche' mi son fermato

Ascoltate voi amanti
la dolcezza della rosa,
Che cantando poi andate
piu` profondo nella prosa

Ma se l'amore volete trovare
non cercate li per terra,
Alzate gli occhi piu` in alto
e mirate sulla stella

La stella vi condurrera`
al piu` massimo livello,
Ed e` li che troverete
il primo ed ultimo castello

Qui raggiungerete
l'arena dei cavalieri,
Di una certa nobilta`
ed altissimi pensieri

E le porte si apriranno
ai cuori di purezza,
E nei giardini sarete accolti
ve lo dico con certezza

Sarete riuniti
con i vostri cari fratelli,
E tutti gli atti di carita`
li porteranno sui mantelli

Allora capirete
il mistero della vita,
Che per tanti esseri umani
sia soltanto una gita

L'aria sara` si dolce
e i fiori si splendenti,
E tutti per uno ed uno per tutti
abbracciati e sorridenti

Poi camminerete
tutti di buon umore,
E quando arriverete
vedrete quel pastore

Il primo ed unico
figlio del Signore,
E vi inginocchierete
per renderlo onore

Il Primo Cavaliere
Re di tutti i re,
Col Padre e lo Spirito Santo
la Santita` dei Tre

La musica suonera`
ed il cielo brillera`,
Insieme giurerete
la piu` alta fedelta`

Another Dance

by

Cavaliere Vivente

You think me a poet
a wizard of sorts
but I am only a man
and I have my torts

I make my wand dance
and an image is born
though it's only my pen
spewing words centuries worn

Were I a true artist
the heavens I would paint
magnificently resplendant
with angels and saints

I know not of such beauty
for a mortal being am I
but alas I can dream
and content am I to try

So the pen courts the paper
like a lover and his date
dancing with the moon
as the sun lies in wait

The Rose and the Rain

by

Cavaliere Vivente

When I search your eyes
will we feel the strength
of the inescapable ties
that bind us

Will I feel the passion
surging through your veins
or is the mortal blood that flows
all that shall remain

If I embrace your soul
with all my dreams
shall it render us whole
and awaken our slumbering destiny

I have prayed incessantly
under Heaven's watchful eyes
holding fast to the one truth
that would answer all the whys

There were times I saw you
in the shadow of the twilight
pursuing my prayers
like an angel in flight

And the evening breeze
would deliver your thoughts
gliding through the trees
to rest upon my heart

Purifying the illusions
of this deceptive plane
you have always been
my beacon and my refrain

The locus shall materialize
and then we shall be
the rose and the rain
the sun and the tree

The Colors of Spring

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Oh new spring rose
so alive and pure,
Your color is of love
your essence is my lure

Soft on these mortal eyes
sweet in this earthly air,
The goodness you evoke
like a Sunday morning prayer

Breathe forth your hopefulness
that I may drink of it,
Reach into my heart
and soothe my spirit

Oh flower so divine
of you I implore,
Rekindle all the colors
refresh and restore

The Poet Down The Road

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Have you ever seen the sunrise
through the crystal blue windows
of the poet down the road?
You should see what he sees
as he smiles and he sighs
as he laughs and he cries

Have you ever heard the wind sing
from the flowered porch
of the poet down the road?
You should listen to its songs
in the winter, in the spring
of the promise it may bring

Have you ever stopped to drink
from the timeless sculpted fountain
of the poet down the road?
Coursing through your veins
provoking feelings quite in sinc
with the roses, red and pink

Have you ever touched a star
from the ever-ascending tower
of the poet down the road?
You should chance the spiraling stairs
for it really isn't very far
honestly, he has one in a jar

You have never seen the sunrise
through the crystal blue windows
of the poet down the road?
You should for he knows
of the ever-binding ties
to the sweet, enchanting lullabyes

I Shall Cherish You Forever

by

Cavaliere Vivente

I used to dream in your eyes
not that long ago,
Captivated by your smile
and a warm enchanting glow

T'were days of youth and laughter
the two of us shared,
I wonder if you ever knew
how much I truly cared

Morning walks and endless talks
how wonderful it used to be,
There was a special something
between Anne Marie and me

The days we passed together
were sweet and much too few,
And when time took us both away
my love for you still grew

Then one day God called your name
and I could not understand,
Why He would take our Anne away
so soon into His Land

And all of Heaven's tears
could never wash away the pain,
And all the praying hands
could never make my heart the same

But, dear Anne, you left in me
a part of you I know,
And when they look into my eyes
they'll see your magic glow

Every night I pray, Dear God
when my time is through,
Please let me be with Anne again
side by side with You

The Folly of a Wizard's Wand

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Musical notes dancing joyfully with the breeze
kissing the flowers, hugging the trees,
But why can't I hear, why can't I see
am I the folly of a wizard's wand?

Sentimental lady with your
inspiring silvery fingers,
Touching the souls of mortals
as your melody lingers

Lingers through the eternal pulse
of an artist's gentle brush,
The ever-recurring story
recounted through a hush

Courting the sentiments
of one who cannot feel,
Tell me lovely Luna
my spirit do you steel?

Steel me through the illusions
of these ancient medieval dreams,
Absolve me of my confusion
and all that it may seem

Seemingly apparent to
angels and their kin,
Bathe me in your truth
purge me of my sin

The sins within our orbit
the maladies of heart,
Conversing with Heaven's eyes
praying they'll impart

The knowledge of the ages
the wisdom of the saints,
The philosophical sages
mixing all their paints

Painting with their quills
upon the traveled scene,
Searching for the secrets
somewhere in between

Between the dormant paths
and the sweet forgotten kisses,
The valiant shining knights
and their fairest pristine misses

Pray then tell me
oh fairest of the fair,
Does this wizard not see
or does he simply not care?

All That Was Once You

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Why have you abandoned me
leaving me without words
and without solace

Once we were inseparable
bonded by our secrets
and strengthened by our passion for life

Once we danced together
with a rhythm all our own
under the silver shadows of her smile

Once we shared our souls
and toasted our tomorrows
and celebrated our youthful bliss

The promise of forever
raced through our mortal veins
as our eyes searched the morning mist

And it was there the dream was born
in the magic of your smile
and the birth of the new day

We dared to hope and wish
as the sun splashed his colors
across the colorless morn

Exuberance pulsed through our bodies
as the vision unfolded
and kissed our hopeful hearts

And tomorrow seemed so far away
as we reveled in our cotton candy days
and danced upon the timeless sand

But the unforgiving moments
quickly sped away
and vanquished all our youthful days

Once it seemed to never end
as the sweetness of your words
calmed the turmoil of my world

Now your lips are silent
never again to share
the beauty of your thoughts

Now your eyes are motionless
never again to see my face
or the wonders of this earth

Now your heart has ceased to beat
never again to spread your love
or comfort my fragile spirit

And I am left all alone
on this terrestrial plane
to contemplate the memories
of all that was once you...

Il Regalo

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Memories of You

by

Cavaliere Vivente

The years now number seven
and feelings still remain,
Engulfing like a fever
making me insane

Behold the eternal truths
those of knowledge and love,
Uncontained and unrestrained
flying free the white dove

A rose forever blossoms
in a seldom traveled field,
Together with a tall oak
a power without yield

The twilight echoes softly
a melody few shall hear,
On quiescent wings revisited
the memories draw near

Snow Angel's Kiss

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Winter's breath awakened the snow angel
and slowly lifted her upon his shoulders
so she could kiss the falling flakes
that tickle the heart of childhood

The Greatest Debt

by

Cavaliere Vivente

The frigid air seemed to capture
his final exhalation
and cradle it in the early morning mist

He was indeed a hero
this warrior of old
and I, more than anyone, understood it well

After all, he knew the extended ramifications of war
had experienced the ravages of battle
and emotionally struggled with the inevitable results

And, more than anything, he had endured the ghosts
of those he was compelled to exile from this earth
with his metallic machine of war

His eyes had witnessed untold horrors
that had fractured his heart
and temporarily disoriented his reason

But he knew what had to be done
and questioned not
and never once failed to discharge his soldierly obligations

The traditional brass farewell
sliced through the muted morning
to bid him adieu

The greatest debt that I could never repay
is owed to this titan of men
who, many years ago, on a blood-stained battlefield
saved the life of a soldier
who, in time, had given me mine...

Circumvention

by

Cavaliere Vivente

Dreaming, feeling, healing
and once again reeling
From the invasive reality
tugging at my sentimentality

I shut my eyes
I hear your sighs
I feel the touch
I miss so much

Your lips on mine
sweetly intertwine
Pulsating
invigorating

Our bodies dancing
our souls romancing
Scaling great heights
aross celestial lights

Transcending time
universal crime
Terrestrial incarceration
for spiritual manifestation

The injustice of it all
the emotional fall
Engulfing abyss
all of this

In dreams
it seems
You're there
everywhere

I wake
I ache
I regurgitate
I ruminate

Reality
impracticality
Non-existent
and persistent

Tangible
unimaginable
All at once
illusory stunts

Again I weep
then sweet sleep
There you are
my comforting star

In my dreams
so it seems
You're alive
and I thrive

It is here
I have no fear
In your arms
soothing charm

So I shall stay
and I will pray
To remain
in this domain

We exist
we persist
In these dreams
so it seems...
