Patience

by

Tstep

Quietly we wait

For over a year we've been trying
Counting days, praying,
Subjecting ourselves to poking and prodding

But mostly praying, waiting.

Why did I ask God to "teach" me patience
Instead of "give" me patience?
To learn we must endure,
And I'm not sure how much longer we can.

Yet we wait, and try to rely on God's timing.
Please, God, make it soon.

More

by

Tstep

Why do we always want more
Than what we have?
On one hand, that wanting may be the drive
That keeps us living
On the other, we may just be selfish beings
Ruled by greed
I don't know the answer...
I only know the drive is real, and forceful,
And overwhelming at times
And so we want...

Responsibility

by

Tstep

The claws of responsibility
dug themselves into me
before I ever had a chance
at unbridled creativity.

How different could my life be
were my waking hours dedicated
to my imagination!
How greater my peace...
How better the world...

But alas, responsibility beckons,
and so I lay down my pen
and pick up my yoke.

Generation A-Z

by

Tstep

A new generation:

A new dose of idealism
living in the minds of the naive
Who take for granted
the protection they've been given
by the one they call "monster"

Who blindly adopt their cause
without experience,
clinging to unrealistic ideals.

Go ahead, change the world!
In twenty years, you'll change your mind.

To Comfort My Friend

by

Tstep

Why so dark today?
Only dark clouds fill your sky.
Down is up, and up is down,
And inside out is all around.

Rest, my friend...

The time is not now for toil and sweat;
The time is for rest,
for renewal of body and soul.
Rest now, my friend,
with visions of moonvine and blue hydrangea,
and sweet times both past and still to come.
Slip off to that place
where God heals your heart,
where God heals your body,
where God heals your mind.

Rest now, my friend...
Everything is fine.

The Struggle

by

Tstep

I write that my words will someday be used
for the enlightenment of my fellow man,
with whom I struggle.

Somehow we all struggle alone,
though we are all struggling together.
How does confusion and sorrow
lure us into ourselves?

I write that my words might touch
the heart of my fellow man,
that he may not remain alone in the struggle,
but feel my support in his heart.

There is no shame in the struggle;
Those who do not struggle do not grow.
