Crossing the seas

by

Maria Esther Torinho

I cross many oceans, I travel by many seas
looking for an insane dream, an island full of fruitful trees.

I know that looking for the dream which was almost gone away
I have once cried and shouted and had plenty of bitter days.

I bring a navigation map in the right hand
and try to find the exact way for this hopeful trip.
But I am the crew of my own lonely ship
and again I lose myself in your desert sand.

I fight and die for your love, my precious treasure.
And searching your harbor, the efforts I do not measure:
I bleed looking for the dreams you promised to me.

Listen: I ask you for love and also for God's sake:
Cross my oceans from west to east, until their waves break
Come and be forever the paradise you once promised to be.

Silver rain

by

Maria Esther Torinho

Silver rain, which brings life in your arms,
you reflect the white cotton of the farms
which you also help to stay alive.
You are the reflection of my beloved eyes:
when he looks to me with care and love,
all the nature shows its happiness:
if it's day, the sunrays enlightens every heart
if itís night, the stars more than never shine above.
When I look at the skies,
you have already borrowed from nature
the color of the butterflies;
after escaping into the mirror of the sea,
you hide yourself behind the trees,
then you show off through the rainbow
Silver rain, you mysterious goddess who dare
turn into dreams what used to be a nightmare!

Silver rain, which brings life in your arms,
you reflect the white cotton of the farms
which you also help to stay alive.
You are the reflection of my beloved eyes:
when he looks to me with care and love,
all the nature shows its happiness:
if it's day, the sunrays enlightens every
[heart
if itís night, the stars more than never
shine above].
When I look at the skies,
you have already borrowed from nature
the color of the butterflies;
after escaping into the mirror of the sea,
you hide yourself behind the trees,
then you show off through the rainbow
Silver rain, you mysterious goddess who dare
turn into dreams what used to be a nightmare!

A pray to the sea
Magnificent God, whose waves embrace me
whenever I go to the sea.
who for years and years I miss,
to whom I deliver my body for a lovely kiss.
In your deepest waves you hide gold and
treasures,
which you change to leisure and pleasure.
Waves of the sea, which I deeply love
and of which I am also afraid,
you are a splendid mirror of the sky above!
Of crystal foam is your body made
and of betrayal is your spirit a housemaid.
I beg you: bring back the bodies you steal
from life, and imprison in your deep heart!
And I would change the flavor I feel
when involved by your arms of sugar and salt.
I would also help you in this endeavor
if you stopped your season of cries and shouts.
