High life

by

Rodrigo Toledo-Crow

To wake up with the notion
lifeís the struggle not to rot.
Giant, insect and ruthless man,
virus and grass,
serene tree.

To rise with troubled thoughts
concerning not the day to be.
More the like of life that seeks
happiness?
No, but keeping fresh.

To sit and stare into the vast.
Try reason,
always end dazed.
My god! Iím going bad,
got to get nutrients! ...clean air.

To roll ones tongue inside ones mouth
and come across, again, decay,
and say with common cowardice:
today, I think, in bed Iíll stay,
Iím still not faisandťe.
