Number 159 on the long white list
159 - how you wish it was number 1
Every day gets longer, every breath
shorter
The people in white look at you - pity
in their eyes.
Your family puts on masks of hope
and happiness -
but
the white walls are thin
and you hear them cry.
They are already in mourning.
The days drag on, and you get weaker. Each beat is further apart.
The machines power doubles.
You feel a sudden surge of energy.
But this brings you no happiness,
for you know that your life
lies
number 159.
