The Way Things Happen...

Rebecca Sylvia

The man and the moon and me
Lie quietly together
Each consumed in thoughts
Thinking because we don't know the answer.

Softness, he says.
A stary night, the moon says.
Warm rain, I say.

And then he laughs.
But I know it is alright
Because I will always have loved him,
Even after the moon has set and risen again.
One day many years from now
He will remember that he loved me too,
And then I'll laugh.
