The Passing Past

by

Chitra Subramaniam

Those days were glorious;
they make the present look furious.
Oh!they belong to the past.
Why? Time slips by fast.

Joyous, vibrant and ecstatic;
they brimmed with fun and frolic.
There was not a thing to worry about;
the ebullient mind was free of doubt.

From now and ever, is it retreating?
Or is the past just too fleeting?
Was the euphoria really temporary?
Or is it all just cruelly illusory?
