God Moves In Myaterous Ways

by

Arthur G. Hickey Sr.

There was a man who lived a lonly life;
For far to many years.
As a child he never went to church;
He was often filled with loneliness and fear.

One day while passing by a park;
He walked in and took a seat.
When he looked down at the ground it forced a smile;
To see the birds and squirrels at his feet.

He could not understand why they did not fear him;
As he sat and watched them eat.
He enjoyed a happy feeling from within;
Just seeing them there at his feet.

As he sat he remained with a puzzled look;
That forced him to carry a smile on his face.
It made him feel sad when he thought back in his past;
That he never before had visited this place.

For the first time in his life that he could recall;
A feeling like this that he could not place.
Reaching up past his smile while still looking down;
He whipped a tear from his face.

With this he got up and walked out of the park;
With his head still remaining low.
As he walked along he wondered when;
The feeling of sadness would let him go.

As he wandered along in need of assistance;
He heard a church bell tolling in the distance.
With this he turned to the direction of the sound;
Quickly he walked with a greater persistance.

As he approached the church his mind began to stray;
He did not understand why the bell tolled this day.
Knowing it was Friday he stopped and looked up;
He new this bell tolled only on Sunday.

He walked up the stairs his heart pumping with fear;
While wondering if he had a valid reason to be here.
When he got to the top he came to a stop;
He could not get rid of his feeling of fear.

As he stood at the door lost in time;
He reached up and whipped away another tear.
It was now or never he thought to himself;
Slowly he pushed open the large door with great care.

Into the lobby he walked very slow;
While taking sight of everything he could.
He made sure that his thoughts and respect were at its best;
While inside this church and as it should.

He looked through the glass in the second door;
Seeing the bright lights at the other end of the church.
He walked through the doorway looking all about;
With his eyes widened as they searched.

The long walk down the aisle was truly needed;
With step after step he slowly preceeded.
At the other end of the aisle he knelt at the rail;
It was here to open tears he fully conceeded.

Then looking up through a tearful face;
These words he did softly speak out in place.
Please help me I pray he truthfully pleaded;
My Jesus please come you are desperately needed.

At this moment a feeling of happiness appeard;
He truly felt that he had succeeded.
This rightous and moral feeling possessed him;
A feeling long overdue and well needed.

His two hands moved forward and they came together;
As he took up the position of prayer.
His mouth moved slowly and he whispered his words;
He prayed to Almighty God who knew was there.

A long time had passed before he finished his words;
Slowly he stood with a smile on his face.
He turned being happy that he had been heard;
Forever he would be happy for what led him to this place.

A warm feeling of happiness from this House of God;
He felt as he walked along with pride.
Not truly knowing what had steered him to the park;
He was ever so happy that it led him inside.

Approaching the door he reached out with a hand;
When a soft voice he heard at his rear.
Thank you for coming the voice spoke sofly;
Quickly the man turned and he stared.

When he saw a man dressed as a Priest;
It relieved from his moment of fear.
He said hello and decided to talk;
Hoping to find out what had led him here.

He told of the park where he had taken a seat;
He told about the birds and squirrels at his feet.
He told of his happiness and thoughts of sorrow;
And he spoke of it all very discreet.

When he told of the sorrow forcing him from the park;
His face preceeded a look of tears.
This caused the Priest to speak out quickly with words;
Hoping to provide him with some comfort and cear.

You have had a long day I see the Priest spoke;
Talking to a man he had never seen before.
It started by finding happiness in the park;
Then turned to sorrow and led you to this door.

As for the bell tolling that you did hear;
It was broken and in serious need of repair.
If you give valid thought to what has led you this way;
I have a much more important thing to say.

Smiling he blessed himself looking up to pray;
He blessed the man and then he did say.
You were guided here to this church today;
Because at times God Moves in Mysterious Ways.

The man smiled as he blessed himself;
Then reached out his hand for the Priest to take.
The Priest took the mans hand and they stared eye to eye;
As they both gave a manly hand shake.

When the man let go these words he did say;
I'll see you on Sunday and I am happy that I came today.
But even more so he went on to say;
I am very happy I know;
That God did move me in a Mysterious Way.

AMERICA is the greatest;
It has always been the best.
It sings it out to all of us;
With a never ending quest.

From Canada alont the top;
To the Mexican boarder below.
Yes America is the beautiful;
Wherever you may go.

Never a day without tears;
Or that laughter cannot be heard.
For this is our America;
With a way it speaks free words.

When that September Eleventh day arrived;
With that terror from up high.
At eight forty-six and nine O Three AM;
We watched our nation cry.

From hijacked planes this terror came;
Without any warnning or care.
Our people watched the Twin Towers fall;
Through screaming shock and fear.

Some of our children and corageous women;
With gallent men did fall.
While people filled up with tears;
As we heard some of their calls.

Almighty God please hear our cry?
We ask you one and all.
Please do not forsake us we pray to you;
As you watch us in appall.

Some tears stopped and some fist clinched;
As America not knowing.
Why this act of cowardice occured;
Praying that it was not ongoing.

New York City was down on one knee;
In a desperate need of a hero.
Lifting them selves up then marching off with resolve;
These heros headed for Ground Zero.

Through damage and wreckage they moved about;
With sadness and anger showing.
Deep in their minds everyone knew;
It was time for the tough to get going.

New York Firemen and the New York Police;
With the help from many others.
Began digging with hope and thoughts of rescue;
While searching for thei missing brothers.

At nine forty-five in Washington DC;
The terror continued on.
Another large jet came down from above.
Crashing into the Pentagone.

As America watched in shocking fear;
They could not believe their eyes.
Everyone knew we were under attack;
But why from our friendly sky's?

It happened again at about ten-ten;
In Pennsylvania's Someret County.
Another jet fell ending these hijackers plot;
Along with their ideologist bounty.

When the passengers found out about these terrorist;
And of their special mission.
They encountered these hijackers;
Fighting them all into a subdued position.

Then down canme this plane with heroic fame;
Americans had altered the hijackers mission.
When the last plane fell in somerset county;
Boardered with all of thos heros;

The TV cameras moved back and forth;
From Somerset County Pennsylvania.
Back to Washington DC;
Then again to New York's City's Ground Zero.

The President spoke assuring us;
That the enemy has been sighted;
He vowed an end of these terrorist;
In frount of a Congress United.

When the terror attacks stopped;
From our friendly skies America began its healing.
United in war on terror we stand;
While our military gives us fair dealing.

As we always remember the Seventh of December;
In Nineteen forty-One.
Let us never forget the Eleventh of September;
The year Two Thousand and One.

God has been good as we prayed that he would;
He united us very strong.
So onward we go because America knows;
Those terrorist attacks were wrong.

Deep in our hearts and with open minds;
We thank God for our nation so strong.
While we thank him above for his heavenly love;
He will show us right from wrong.

Without any doubt One Nation Under God;
We proudly shout.
America of Nine-One-One;
We Praise the Loud and Strong.

THE WONDERS OF GOD

To see a new born baby cry;
To watch the rolling tears.
Is to find a feeling of happiness within;
Knowing God has allowed this baby here.

To see a family walking togeather;
In a park or other fine place.
Can give you a warm and happy feeling;
While placing a smile on your face.

To listen to a group of young children recite;
While it brings us all a special smile.
Even in error of words they speake so polite;
This makes our presence much more worth while;
As they make sure of getting it right.

These are the children of America;
They are the future of this greatland.
Watching them grow day by day;
Is a feeling so joyfully grand.

Americas freedon is based on;
What our families have to say.
It is an other reason why God above;
Will bless america every day.

To listen to the different opinions;
From the many people from this land.
Is the right of freedom of speech;
Even when we do not understand.

This is truly an American manner;
That we all call this freedom of speech.
Our freedom of speech is based on;
What our founding fathers have preached.

If you read the United States Constitution;
With all of its written amendments.
It should not seem strange to any of us;
That it is based on the Ten Commandments.
