Clean Sweep

by

Dottie Smith

Living out here in the country
Close to nature each day
Moving here from the big city
To find us a better way.

Getting away from pollution
Away from the crime and the rot
Giving our children the good life
Away from the drugs and the pot

Well listen to me all you people
Weather city or country you be
You cannot escape from the muggings and rape
You see every night on tv

So living out here, where your breathing fresh air
Could really be so sublime
If someone, somewhere could rid the air
Of all the terrible crime.

Take Care Of The Children.

by

Dottie Smith

Take care of the children
Don't let them die
Beware of the dangers
Lurking near by
Take care of the children
And love them, you see
If they belong to you or to me
It does not matter
Their more precious than gold
A gift from Heaven
To have and to hold
Hold them closely unto your heart
For one day they'll be grown
And then you will part
No more to bounce them upon your knee
They'll belong to the world
Not to you or to me
So take every child
That comes your way
And say something pleasant
To brighten their day
All these little hands
Hold the fate of the world
They are our future, that boy and that girl
They have the right to grow and to see
All the things in this world
Just like you and like me
So take care of the children
And don't let them die
If we never hurt them
They won't make us cry.

The Skydiver

by

Dottie Smith

Flying without wings
Looking down from high above
Embracing the breeze
Catching it in your glove
What's going through your mind
What are you thinking of
The only reason I can see
Is that you are in love
In love with adventure
In love with the sky
In love with the soft clouds
That are passing you by
In love with the feeling
Of being so free
I can only imagine
How that must be
As for me I like my feet
Planted right on the ground
But my heart, that goes soaring
When you are around.

Season's Color's

by

Dottie Smith

Winter brings to mind
The white of falling snow
The barren trees, without their leaves
Just icicles aglow.

Springtime conjures up
Rainbows in the skies
Of pinks and blues and lavenders
And lovely butterflys.

Summertime is shades of green
Everywhere you look
Sunshine streaning through the waters
Of a lazy babbling brook.

Autumn is the time, mother nature's waiting for
With red and orange, yellow and gold
>From the mountains to the shores.

Then once again the trees
Will shed their colorful clothes
And bare thenselves once more
Waiting for the winter snow's.
