A Dusty Dream

It stands there out of its case in a corner
Reminding me of a dream I once had
I wanted to learn and play in a band
The strings still brand new
Never really been played

They sit there on the draws
Like little wooden ornaments
A rhythm in my head never heard
Yet again the dream I used to have

I sit there in an empty room
With a broken jigsaw of memory
Bits lost and some broken
Fitting it together the best I can
It'll never be perfect
But then again, what is?

The distant notes of a failed life play
Echoing through the halls
Faded and contorted so out of shape
The rythem of life plays randomly
broken and out of time

The life I always dreamed
Slipping further out of my reach
