Synonymous Sleep

by

Cynthia Mineart Sinsap

Sleep, sleek sleep
So illusive and shy
tacitern and reticent
As I lay tangled in bed clothes,
Waiting for
drowsy, smoozy sleep to ensnare my thoughts;
Wishing for
an illusive, somnolent, comatose state;
Longing to
gorge on
wallow in
blissful sleep.
Permeating,
Saturating,
Percolating,
Percolating?
Coffee bubbling,
rousing me from
Sleep.

On a Marriage Collapsing

by

Cynthia Mineart Sinsap

Thinking it's love,
But then transforming.
Life, liberty, happiness
Lost. Trapped in a circle
of golden wire
ever tightening.

In a silent bedroom,
Two strangers share
Life, liberty, happiness
Lost in thoughts soaring
Worlds apart.

Seeking a path,
But maybe not back to
Life, liberty, happiness
Lost to each other.

Pensando que é amor,
Mas em transformação.
Vida, liberdade, felicidade,
Perdido. Apanhado em um círculo
de laço dourado
sempre apertando.

Em um quarto silencioso,
Dois estranhos compartilham
Vida, liberdade, felicidade
Perdidos em pensamentos
Mundos separadamente.

Buscando um caminho,
Mas talvez não voltem para a
Vida, liberdade, felicidade,
Perdidos um para o outro.

Sono

Durma, um sono macio
Tão ilusivo e tímido

taciturno e reservado
Como eu me deito enroscado nas cobertas,
Esperando para

sonolenta, dormir para enlaçar meus pensamentos;
Desejando por

um ilusivo, sonolento, estado letárgico;
Desejando

devorar

espojar-se em um

sono feliz.

Penetrando,

Saturando,

Filtrando,

Filtrando?

Café borbulhante,

despertando-me do

Sono.

Wind Chimes

by

Cynthia Mineart Sinsap

The winds caress my face,
Bronze tines reverberate,
Sun glints off the chime pipes
Swaying above my head.
Hot yellow expands,
Blinding my eyes,
Floating my thoughts
To the other side
Of the world, where my mother's face
Smiles from the window
Of her white house, so stark
Against the azure blue,
It tears my eyes.
I open them to a sheet of grey.
Rain slides down the longest chime,
Dropping onto my face.
