NAUGHTY OLD FLY

by

Retha Shortridge

Naughty old fly,
Just flew by,
Hit me in the eye,
Landed in my pie,
Wish he would die.

Give him a swat,
I can not,
He can't be got,
Hope he eats snot.
Or falls in a pot.

Flew over there,
Landed in my hair,
It's just not fair,
Now he's on the stair,
He does not give a care.

Naughty old fly,
Tell me, why, oh why,
Must you make me cry,
He waved good-bye,
Took to the sky,
That naughty old fly.

BORED KID

by

Retha Shortridge

A bored kid sat upon a stool,
Looking for nothing that he could do,
Along came Mouse and Kid said to him,
"Hello, Mouse, my name is Lazy Jim."
But the crazy Mouse just bit his toe,
Saying, "So long Sucker, I've got to go."

Jim remained lazily upon that stool,
Never finding anything that he would do,
Along came Cat and Kid said to him,
"Hello, Cat, my name is Lazy Jim."
But the wild cat just clawed his face,
Saying, "I'm gone from this boring place."

Finally, the kid got off that stool,
And found himself something useful to do,
Along came Dog and Kid said to him,
"Hello, Dog, my name is Working Jim."
Dog was so pleased that he stayed to play,
And they had fun for the rest of the day.
