A tenuous symphony
in his feet
as he drifts warily
down the street...
And vulnerable dignity
in his eyes,
while his faceted smile
tells shinysweet lies...
This elegant vagabond
in mis-matched clothes,
hustles the the gentlefolk
(whom he delicately loathes)
...to all who would listen
he'd have them believe
that he has nothing to face
and no place to leave...
...with his song round his neck,
worn like a jewel...
he's life's tattered ballad
...this gypsy fool.
