Freedom

by

J. William Sexton

I saw freedom yesterday, not the dime store freedom
preached by bald guys wearing sheets selling flowers.
But the type of freedom that must be felt in God's heart.
The pure freedom that comes with out care, or consequence.
The kind of freedom that is more than skin deep and weekend cheap, not found in a face lift or a get away to the lake.
I saw it on the wings of a majestic eagle,
Gracefully sailing on the warm spring wind,
Circling the greatest creation,
What an awe inspiring view he must have,
Beauty and freedom captured on the Master's canvas.

You were only in my life
for a brief moment
But it was our moment
And no one can ever
take that from me
I will remember
your warmth and beauty forever
You have left your footprints
on my heart
A clear path for me to follow
back to your cherished memory.
I will love you forever.
Thank you for that.
