Go for Coffee?

by

Anthony Sell

A moment for banter
Rolls across the floor
As the slap sinks in
And he knows it's over.

With blusht cheeks he stands
(Before she thinks to throw her coffee
At him).

Because he doesn't love her anymore.

"How do you fall out of love?"
She demanded.
And he grinned sheepishly
Knowing inside
That he was still in love.

Just not with her.

My Father's Face

by

Anthony Sell

In every man's face
is the line of their father,
The scorn of their mother,
and the touch of their lover,
The pain which hides
and the fear they deny,
The child that's died
In ev'ry man's face.
