To Bright Eyes, A Poem

by

Gloria Ernest Samuel

On a dark pleasant evening
you hit me like the fireballs
your eyes gleaming
mine alert at every call
and you joked
and i laughed
happiness was pure and alive
but in all
as i listened
as your eyes gazed away
bright and beautiful as the moon
i still remember to this day
how it happened and so soon,
chimezie, oh chimezie
how i wish you are here
your strawberry lips touching mine
walking beneath this moonlight
sipping a glass of wine
as i sit here
my heart beats fiercefully
thinking of you
thinking of me
thinking of you
your bright eyes full of life
sparkling like a jewel
lost in a desert
i know what i'm feeling
hope you do, too?
oh Bright eyes, to you,
a sudden poem.
