A lullaby

by

Najia Safdar

Clutching my finger the fear of an infant.
The innocentís pounding heart
I shudder with fear at the dismal this dusk would bring
And through the abandoned alley of darkness
Where every door opens to many
Where sins are bred to life
The forbidden names roused to life.
The memories are refreshed
The forsaken love
Pours down like a tear
Like a raindrop from a sky
Without a thunder or a cloud
As she rocks the child to lullaby

Oblivion street

by

Najia Safdar

And though I an oblivion street
Lost in forgetfullnesss
What more can I say
The hard time seems eternal
In the midst of a garden I lay
My existence went unnoticeable
And the fir trees placed high
My eyes gazed in awe
The zenith of the seasons
Love was all I can say
And then I was left muddy
My eloquence tarnished
As though thrown from the pedestal
And I was left the dreg of a star

Battlefield

by

Najia Safdar

And though I wish
I would take shelter in a tree
Camouflage my self like the leaves
OR like the animal that blends itself
To save my self from this terror
The fear that pains me forever
And though I cannot go blind
My eyes pains to see the flowing blood
The struggling children, the handicap man
I can run but for how long
The legs would soon get weary
This death that is meant to be
The lurking sword of the enemy
That haunts me in this land
Which is but a battlefield

An ash

by

Najia Safdar

And though I an ash
A dreg of a minute star as they say
A rememnat of a memory
The dawn of a day
Lost forgotten am I
An ash of a cigarette lying on a crystal plate
Life was a few puffs
The smoke burnt me out
leaving remains.
Life was an enigma
As they say
The women burnt me out
Leaving me in a cystal place
And though these dregs remain
To speak of the past
My memory remains to speak of the lost hours

Journey

by

Najia Safdar

And though this journey
Where would it end
Where Lincoln lies in this tomb
Where the Roden deep in his thoughts
Where Rainer touches the sky
And then to Madison my destiny lies
And I wonder what is more to come
I wish I could unravel
What lies tomorrow
Unfold every blooming rose

Ajeeb Shakhs hoon Khudh ko jalana chahta hoon,
Mein khudh ko rakh kar kahe bhool jana chaht hoon,

Meray naseeb ki khushiyan bhi kab milli mujhko,
Bas ab to umer bhar ansoo bahana chahta hoon,

Najaney kitni mohabbat hai ranj-o-gham hai mujhey,
Koi bhi dard ho dil mein chupana chahta hoon,

Baha baha ke yeh ansoo bikhar chuka hoon bohaat,
simat ke zaat mein ab muskurana chahta hoon,

Jisey aik umer se Dil mein basa kai rakha hai,
Woh raaz aaj mein sab ko batana chahta hoon,

Wohi yaad hai jo acha kaha hai logo ne,
Baqaya sarey sitam bhool jana chahta hoon,

Mujhe zamaney nai pathar samjh liya hai magar,
Mein aik insan hoon sab ko batana chahta hoon,

Jo mujh se ruth chuky hain zamaney ki khushiyan,
To mein bhi khushyon se ab ruth jana chahta hoon,
