untitled

by

Joe Sabados

if i only had the words to tell you
i would say something like this...

you are the spark that
rekindled the fire
burning deep within my soul

a flame that only flickered
for longer than i can remember
a dying ember that almost went out
until you touched my soul

if i only had the words to tell you

my soul and my mind were reborn
they carried me to places i have
never been before
they magically unlocked
the doors of perception

i have seen things in a different light
i have experienced new sensations

if i only had the words to tell you

you have instilled in me a deep
seated passion
that will burn forevermore

you have taken me to new heights
you have created within me
a new inner being

you have restored joy and
happiness to my heart
you have given me
new meaning to life

if i only had the words...

dreams

by

Joe Sabados

dreams lost...dreams found
memories that fade away
the trouble lies in the confusion
whether they are reality or illusion
actually that's quite difficult to say

dreams of now
dreams of then
dreams of what will be
i lie here awake instead
and dream of you and me

october sky

by

Joe Sabados

as i stand watching the october sky
the light fades into darkness
i can hear the rustle of the colorful leaves
on the trees as the wind blows thru them
the sound of the wind chimes can be heard
as their metallic music plays a song

i wonder if i will catch a glimpse
of my special star tonight
the one that shines just for me

it gives me strength, encouragement,
and most of all...a feeling of
comfort and tranquility
it gives me enlightenment, happiness,
and a reason to be

when i glide into the path of the light
i can feel the warmth
being emitted from within
one day i will reach that star
and capture it for my very own

till then i will roam thru the night sky
making my way past so many other stars
for the one i seek lies within
as well as it does so far away

if you see me standing and looking
into the night sky
i will be dreaming of a place i want to be
far above the earth...caught in the afterglow
in a land of enchantment
where dreams end
and reality begins

lady of mystery

by

Joe Sabados

somewhere out there...once upon a dream
i encountered a lady fair...whose rapture
was unforeseen

she was captivating and beautiful
there was no great cause for alarm
who could guess that this sorceress
would take my heart by charm

she was clad in a long, black,
diaphanous gown
with her hair, soft and silky
flowing down

she worked her witchy magic...
with her scented candles
and her spells
i succumbed to the voices
until i heard the bells

the calling wind whispered her
name to me
as it blew thru the forest
and the tree

i traversed the universe throughout
to see
if this lady and i were destined to be
searching the night sky for an answer to find
this lady of mystery who dwells in my mind

ode to a barefoot woman...(forZe)

by

Joe Sabados

barefoot woman with skin so fair
eyes of blue and long blonde hair
working her magic with the stars above
my own true friend and lady love

she is sincere, sensitive, warm and kind
i think of her often; she's on my mind
never a day passes by when she's not near
my own true friend and lady dear

through the years our friendship will grow
like an endless rainbow it will flow
walking the road of life with the help of
stars above
one day i will meet my own true friend
and lady love

untitled

by

Joe Sabados

i lost my train of thought
if i ever had one
oh, yes
now i remember
it's under the christmas tree
going past the water tower
days of casey jones
dreams of a child

shadows of the night

by

Joe Sabados

one soul in search of another
seeking the shadows of the night
then i awake
from the world of dreams
the shadows are beside me
they are with me
even during the daylight hours
i know them
i feel them
i live with them
they do not frighten me
yet i tremble
is it the fear of the unknown?
perhaps they will fade
when that certain soul
comes into being with mine
i will awaken with her
as two become one
then the shadows will be no more

Life Cycle # 2

by

Joe Sabados

poets searching for the true meaning of things
bits and pieces of torn paper
theories of life
fragments that end up in a wastebasket

love...i've known it
hate...i've felt it
reality...i've seen it
illusion...i live there now
religion...i once believed
sadness...down deep it's a part of us all

the list is endless
the meanings change with time
so too are the poems of forgotten men
some tried and died
others failed and prevailed
i continued searching
found a woman beside my door
i asked her in
she obliged
had a good thing going
can't explain the pain i felt when she was gone

there's nothing that remains behind you
only your shadow is there to find you
memories haunt your waking hour
the relief you get comes from a cold shower
the taste of life is brief

he touched her

by

Joe Sabados

she felt the spark that ignited
the sleeping embers deep within

she sensed something she hadn't
for a very long time

he touched her

she could feel the warm glow
penetrate her every pore

she was on fire with a burning splendor
that knew no bounds

he touched her

she softly melted into his arms
giving her all

she throbbed with ecstasy and was
consumed by her inner passions

he touched her

she then knew the limitless sensations
that she only before dreamed

she was set free from the bonds
that held her fast

he touched her

in a way no one had ever
touched her before

he touched her

with his body and his mind

untitled

by

Joe Sabados

the vaulted sky
the deserted beach
one lone man walking along the shore
in search of who knows what
perhaps a stone that has washed
in with the tide
perhaps a sea shell
or maybe he's looking for himself
i saw him fall in and drown last week

memories of golden gate

by

Joe Sabados

while walking along through the park one day
i met an old wino who asked if i was going his way
i said...sure come follow me...
so we walked along together that old man and me
we talked of thoreau, sartre, and camus
he told me life in the herd was absurd and i was a fool
i laughed and said...i know, but now i'm free...
he looked at me and said...yeah. now you're a free fool...

forgotten

by

Joe Sabados

forgotten

till you're not even a person
till you're not even a thing
till you're not even a memory
in anyone's mind

left standing alone
feeling empty

phased out
then
nothing

plastic woman

by

Joe Sabados

plastic woman with your painted on smile
why won't you talk to me?
is it because you don't like my looks
or is it my style?
i see you night after night sitting at the
bar drinking your gin
you close yourself off from the rest of the world
and won't let anyone in
you're a pretender
demanding everything
giving nothing
all i want to do is talk with you awhile
you seem to think i want to lay you
you're a phony
go away frigid bitch
i wouldn't even pay you

fate

by

Joe Sabados

drinking
not really thinking
trying to relate
contemplating your fate
a woman walks into your life
now you are free from strife...or are you?
you're sober now and you wonder what you did
then she tells you...i'm going to have a kid
frustrated and unrelated
you should have stayed home and masturbated

vision

by

Joe Sabados

a funny giggle
a pleasant smile
long, sweet smelling hair,
the color of autumn
gently blowing in the breeze

the sound of rain
on the roof top
the sparkle in your eyes
skin so soft to the touch
moist sensous lips
longing to be kissed

i thought i was dreaming
i opened my eyes
and
there you were

shadow

by

Joe Sabados

like a shadow ever present
even when there is no sun
or in the darkness of the night

when you're alone
you're not really alone
for i am with you

when you are fearful
i will be there
to give you courage

when you are cold
i will wrap my arms around you
to keep you warm

when you are hungry
i will feed your soul

when you are weary
i will sing you to sleep

when there is doubt
i will be there
to give you strength

when you're down and out
i will be there
to give you comfort

when you are feeling sensual
i will be there
to make love to you

like a shadow
ever present

in dreams

by

Joe Sabados

you came to me in dreams
i see your lovely face
i hear the sound of your laughter
you satisfy my hunger
you nourish my soul

when i awake you are there
i catch glimpses of you
throughout the day
reflections in a mirror
shadows out of the corner of my eye

wherever i am...you are
you have become a part of me
my thoughts
my words
my feelings

tenderly

by

Joe Sabados

your soft voice fills my head
with sighs and whispers
waiting at the doors of passion
beckoning me...enter

i come to you
softly caressing your face
watching your eyelids dance
neath my touch

kissing your parted lips
a taste never forgotten
silken skin in the
candlelight glows

the contours of your body
cry out to be held
gentle hands

...tenderly

drift away

by

Joe Sabados

i see you in the distance
running barefoot
thru the meadow
looking for rainbows
after a summer shower

every time i think of you
i hear music in my head
it plays a rhapsody
of love's passion and desire

when we touch i can feel the closeness
two spirits coming together
when you are near
the beating of your heart echoes my own

when your lips meet mine
i can taste the sweetness
if i were to kiss you a thousand times
each kiss would taste as sweet and new
as though it were the first

i can feel your warm breath on my skin
i can look into your dark eyes
and
drift away

friend

by

Joe Sabados

.tho we've only met
i feel i've known you
for quite some time
our spirits met long ago
somewhere down the line

hair glistening in the morning sun
eyes sparkling like the dew
don't believe i've met anyone
half as nice as you

hand in hand we walked the beach
sharing a bottle of wine or two
talking of life and love and such
enjoying the sunset view

i turned to you...drew you close
then without amend
gave you a hug and said...
i'm glad you are my friend
