Editor's note: Ms. Rosetti is a seventeen year old with terminal leukaemia. She wrote this in January, when a close friend died.

My world is of pain
Of solitude and of desolation
Of needles and doctors and beds.
I feel I am trapped.

This is a world of loss and of sadness,
Of sickness and of sorrow.
This is a world where the innocent die
And the guilty go free.

But still there is love.
Love gives me wings
To learn how to fly.
To fly far away
Where the clouds cannot catch me.

I dream of flying.
One day I'll fly -
I'll spread my wings wide
And I'll fly forever.
I won't be afraid.
I'll fly to be free.
