*hugs*

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Here is something for you,
And only your eyes,
Revealing, at last,
My hidden guise.

I must confess my feelings now,
For it is you I hold so dear.
But with this love that I hold for you,
Resides an everlasting fear.

A fear that this feeling is in vain.
Or is it something else?
Is there something wrong with me--
Am I caught in one of your spells?

I feel this urge to hug you
From my heart so deep within.
But at the same time I'm sure
That this love is also my worst sin.

I'm left wondering if there's anything
I can say or do to make you understand
That if there's one person for you,
I'm def'nitely that man!

However, I think we both know
That these feelings are premature,
And that we must get to know each other better
If we are to find out for sure.

So let's sit back and think about it
For now and for awhile.
But rest assured that misguided or not,
These feelings are not in guile.

I leave you now with all my love
To ponder out this verse.
But truth be known, I care for you--
For better or for worse.

If I Told You...

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

If I told you I love you,
What would you say?
Would you love me back?
Would you turn away?

If I told you that
It is for you I care,
What would you do?
Would you treat me fair?

If I told you that
It is you I want to embrace,
How would you reply?
Would you say it to my face?

If I told you that
This love isn't ficticious,
Would you just smile?
Would you act malicious?

If I told you that
You are my greatest ambition,
Would you mildly grin?
Would that raise your suspicion?

If I told you that
I will leave you never,
Would you stand by my side?
Would our connection sever?

If I told you that
My life is yours to take,
Would you hold it dear?
Would you let it break?

If I told you that
My love is a book,
Would you take time to read it?
Would you not even look?

If I told you that
Without you I would die,
Would you save my life?
Would you say goodbye?

If I told you that
I want you to be my wife,
Would you marry me?
Tell me to get a life?

If I told you that
It is you I adore,
Would you tell me to go on?
Would you ask for more?

If I told you that
With you I want to be,
Would you hold me in your arms
For all eternity?

Am I the Only One For You?

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

I was looking for a flaw-
Something I could not ignore.
A reason not to like you.
I looked and looked some more.

Yet I found nothing!
How could this be?
Have I found a love so true?
Could you be the one for me?

You seem so perfect,
So beautiful and true.
So genuine, so unique,
You seem so YOU!

Is this for real?
Can this be right?
Yes, I believe it is,
For I love you with all my might.

I long to be with you
Ev'ry night and ev'ry day
For better or for worse,
For whatever come what may.

I must apologize for my hastiness,
For you may not like what you read.
But I assure you that for all intents and purposes,
This is meant in good deed.

But there is something I'm leaving out.
What oh what could it be?
Ah yes, I recall!
A question lingering that be.

Although you're the only one for me,
Is the reverse true?
I guess what I'm asking is,
Am I the only one for you?

Sense of Being

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Although I don't know you,
I can feel your presence.

I can see your face.
I can hear your voice.

I feel comfortable around you.
You give me purpose.

You give me ambition.
I feel a sense of being now....

Awaiting Your Arrival

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Well, I'm here,
My dear.
Trying to manage survival
While awaiting your arrival.
When I hear your voice,
Then I can rejoice.
But until then,
I'll do what I can.
I'll work on that song
(Yeah, it's still coming along).
So I'll talk to you later,
My Florida Gator.

What is it Like?

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

What is it like being you?
So sweet, so gorgeous, so very true?

What is it like being so real?
What are you thinking, what do you feel?

What is it like being so fair,
Showing the entire world that you care?

What is it like to walk in your shoes?
Is it really that different, or just same old news?

What is it like to see through your eyes,
Seeing the world with understanding so wise?

What is it like to speak your voice?
If you spoke now, your words of choice?

What is it like to touch your skin?
Feeling your love from so deep within?

What is it like to live in your reality?
Is anyone with you; if so is it me?

What is it like to have a sinister grin?
Is it your heart that I may soon win?

What is it like to be in a poem?
By someone who loves you when you don't even know him?

Falling in Love

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

I haven't known you that long
But we've been friends forever.
All the late night calls
And all our times together.

But lately I've been thinking
About you and me--
How close we are
And how close we could be....

I don't know why
But I am hurtin'.
I must have slipped
Or somethin' because

I am falling,
I'm falling,
I'm falling in love with you.
Please catch me.

I don't know why all of a sudden
I want to be more than just friends.
Maybe there's something wrong with me,
But I don't want this feeling to end.

Now my heart is all yours.
Yes my fate is in your hands.
Tell me what you want me to do-
Your wish is my command.

Because I've fallen,
I've fallen,
I've fallen in love with you.
I'm still falling.

Now you tell me that you feel the same.
Yes it really is true.
You are in love with me,
And I am in love with you.

And we have fallen,
We've fallen,
We've fallen in love
With each other.

We have fallen,
We've fallen,
We've fallen in love
With each other....

Infinity

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

I'm lying here dead to the world.
But I know I'm alive.
Because I am thinking.
Of absolutely nothing.
Yet my mind is racing.
I see everything and the world over.
Twice.
I see yesterday and tomorrow.
And tomorrow's yesterday.
And I can't help but think.
"Wow."
Life is good.
Life is bad.
Life can be happy.
Life can be sad.
When all is said and done.
What is there left to think?
Ah, but there's plenty, my friend.
There's always the next thought.
There's always...
Infinity!

I'm Sad

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

She decided to take a vacation,
For a few days or for a week.
I'm left here all by myself,
Alone and feeling meek.

I want to help her out,
Yet I cannot find a way.
I don't know what to do;
I know less of what to say.

Crying doesn't help
When it brings another tear.
I'm only left with hopelessness
And a terrible feeling of fear.

But I want to let it out somehow,
Just let these feelings go.
I have to tell people how I feel,
I have to let them know...

That I'm sad.

Can't Think of a Rhyme

Is Love Enough?

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Is love enough?
Some don't know.
She thinks it is;
She told me so.
Money is nice,
A home is, too.
But if you didn't have them,
What would you do?
Would you stay together
Through all the good and bad,
If the only thing you shared
Was the love you had?
Is love enough?
Some do know.

As I pray we will be to the very end.

This Art

What am I writing?
Not much now.
Just trying to ponder
A poem somehow.

Got pen in hand,
Now ink to pad,
Scribbling all
The thoughts I have.

Form of art.

Grampa Lange

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

There he sits,
Opposite me,
With his back against
An old oak tree.

Some brush hides him
Slightly from view.
I know he's there,
But how could you?

He is undetectable--
Impossible to see--
Especially to
The tom turkey.

Grampa took me hunting,
Fishing sometimes, too.
He gave me all his knowledge
Be it old or be it new.

He took me to the cabin
On the Fourth of July,
And once to the Wisconsin River
Where I caught my first walleye.

His gifts are nothing but priceless.
His love, simply true.
No wonder he will live forever,
In both me and in you.

Moving On

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

You never loved me.
Like the rest of my life, you are a farce--
A comedy of errors.
Yet you entail no humor.
We were fairy-tale turned trajedy,
And I was the lone victim,
Sacrificed and buried
With no hope of regeneration.
Yet something exists,
Hibernating within--
An energy stronger than death,
Transcending space and time.
Love awakens,
Hoping to live again.

Snap

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Concentrated with sin,
I feel it burning within,
Seeking to surface.

I don't want to give in,
But in the end who will win?
It's making me nervous.

So now it begins,
Spreading to my limbs;
I'm highly contagious.

Tell me why does it stay?
Why can't it just go away?
The torment is ageless.

But in the end all is lost.
It showed me just who is boss,
Unleashing it's fury.

I'm left to do its deed,
To give it what it needs...
Now...now...now...now...now!

Gone

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

I feel sick.
I was told it would never happen again,
But it has.
You said you'd never hurt me,
But you have.
My scars have been cut open.
What little I had left
Is now bleeding away.
Soon I'll be gone,
And everything you knew about me
Will just be a memory
Soon to be forgotten.
But it won't matter...
Because I never mattered.
Not to you--not to anyone.
'I love you'
Wasn't just three little words to me.
It was my life, and you...
My everything.
But now both my life and my everything...
Are gone...
Along with me....

Te Amo

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

What is this thing you make me feel,
An emotion so strong that I know it's real?

It's as though I've found my long lost twin.
How do I know this? It comes from within.

But no, you're not my sister nor brother,
You are a twin like no other.

You are my soulmate, my one true love,
Sent to me by God above.

We've been separated by distance for so long,
Yet connected since birth by a silver cord.

A cord, we both know, that will never sever,
For it cannot be cut-not now, not ever!

>From the moment we met, I knew it was you.
I realized our souls were but one, not two.

I thank God that I found you so early in life.
I'm so honored that one day you'll be my wife.

Our love will thrive now and tomorrow,
Through all the times, happy and sorrow.

And when our time on earth has ended,
We'll still be together, up in Heaven.

For love transcends corporeal existence,
With God's help and immortal persistence.

I'm yours for eternity, por que?
Te amo ahora, y siempre.

[In case you're not fluent in Spanish,
"Por que? Te amo ahora y siempre." =
"Why? I love you now and always."]

Until I Write Again

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Inspiration brought on
By a thread of memory bliss.
I sat down for a moment
To think and reminisce_.

Once upon a time
We had been best friends,
Conversing thoughts together
For nights on end.

We'd stay up 'til dawn
To watch the moon set,
Share each other's problems
Without a single fret.

We grew closer to each other
With each passing day.
We'd 'been there' for each other
For whatever come what may.

Now we are no more 'you and I'
Than I am with you.
The only time we are "us"
Is when I write about you.

But even the 'us' in my poems
Is not lovers but just friends,
As we will stay
Until I write again.

To My Main Man...

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

We've known each other
For quite some time.
And although you weren't
Always the best friend of mine,

We were never enemies.

We had met
Several years ago,
We didn't click at first.
Why, I don't know.

But then we did.

We've spent many a good time together,
Not just a few.
And for that, my main man,
I say 'I love you.'

I know he's there,
But how could you?

He is undetectable--
Impossible to see--
Especially to
The tom turkey.

Grampa took me hunting,
Fishing sometimes, too.
He gave me all his knowledge
Be it old or be it new.

He took me to the cabin
On the Fourth of July,
And once to the Wisconsin River
Where I caught my first walleye.

His gifts are nothing but priceless.
His love, simply true.
No wonder he will live forever,
In both me and in you.

Moving On

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

You never loved me.
Like the rest of my life, you are a farce--
A comedy of errors.
Yet you entail no humor.
We were fairy-tale turned trajedy,
And I was the lone victim,
Sacrificed and buried
With no hope of regeneration.
Yet something exists,
Hibernating within--
An energy stronger than death,
Transcending space and time.
Love awakens,
Hoping to live again.

Snap

Concentrated with sin,
I feel it burning within,
Seeking to surface.

I don't want to give in,
But in the end who will win?
It's making me nervous.

So now it begins,
Spreading to my limbs;
I'm highly contagious.

Tell me why does it stay?
Why can't it just go away?
The torment is ageless.

But in the end all is lost.
It showed me just who is boss,
Unleashing it's fury.

I'm left to do its deed,
To give it what it needs...
Now...now...now...now...now!

Gone

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

I feel sick.
I was told it would never happen again,
But it has.
You said you'd never hurt me,
But you have.
My scars have been cut open.
What little I had left
Is now bleeding away.
Soon I'll be gone,
And everything you knew about me
Will just be a memory
Soon to be forgotten.
But it won't matter...
Because I never mattered.
Not to you--not to anyone.
'I love you'
Wasn't just three little words to me.
It was my life, and you...
My everything.
But now both my life and my everything...
Are gone...
Along with me....

Te Amo

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

What is this thing you make me feel,
An emotion so strong that I know it's real?

It's as though I've found my long lost twin.
How do I know this? It comes from within.

But no, you're not my sister nor brother,
You are a twin like no other.

You are my soulmate, my one true love,
Sent to me by God above.

We've been separated by distance for so long,
Yet connected since birth by a silver cord.

A cord, we both know, that will never sever,
For it cannot be cut-not now, not ever!

>From the moment we met, I knew it was you.
I realized our souls were but one, not two.

I thank God that I found you so early in life.
I'm so honored that one day you'll be my wife.

Our love will thrive now and tomorrow,
Through all the times, happy and sorrow.

And when our time on earth has ended,
We'll still be together, up in Heaven.

For love transcends corporeal existence,
With God's help and immortal persistence.

I'm yours for eternity, por que?
Te amo ahora, y siempre.

[In case you're not fluent in Spanish,
"Por que? Te amo ahora y siempre." =
"Why? I love you now and always."]

Until I Write Again

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

Inspiration brought on
By a thread of memory bliss.
I sat down for a moment
To think and reminisce_.

Once upon a time
We had been best friends,
Conversing thoughts together
For nights on end.

We'd stay up 'til dawn
To watch the moon set,
Share each other's problems
Without a single fret.

We grew closer to each other
With each passing day.
We'd 'been there' for each other
For whatever come what may.

Now we are no more 'you and I'
Than I am with you.
The only time we are "us"
Is when I write about you.

But even the 'us' in my poems
Is not lovers but just friends,
As we will stay
Until I write again.

To My Main Man...

by

Laramie Lee Roecker

We've known each other
For quite some time.
And although you weren't
Always the best friend of mine,

We were never enemies.

We had met
Several years ago,
We didn't click at first.
Why, I don't know.

But then we did.

We've spent many a good time together,
Not just a few.
And for that, my main man,
I say 'I love you.'
