Unfallen Question

by

Jamillah Robinson

As I sit on the rotting bench lonely,
Admiring just one lonely tree,
That yet still blossoms lonely,
Through the cold winter days .

Why is it just one tree that blossoms?
Why is it just me that sits?
Why is it winter that kills all trees?
Accept this, my evergreen.

As I sit on the rotting bench lonely,
I actually start to think,
That maybe, just maybe this evergreen,
Might be the lonely friend that I kneed.
