Why?

by

Ashley L. Rice

Why is it that things people want to say most
never get said?
Instead they are swept under a rug
Long gone but never forgotten
And why is it,
that people say time heals all wounds?
yet they forget to tell us of the scars that remain
A constant reminder of a broken heart
Why is it that people can't see
what's so clear to everyone else?
Why isn't this a perfect world?
Or at least perfect for me!

The Blind Man

by

Ashley L. Rice

Listen to the blind man
as he tells of all his sights
of the uninhibited rolling ocean
and of the beautiful starlit night

Listen to the blind man
as he tells us of his sights
the beauty of teh Egyptian princess
and the single mother's plight

Listen to the blind man
when he tells us what we should see
The meaning of Van Ghough
the mysteries of the deep

Listen to the blind man
when he tells us what he knows
for only those who are blind to the world
can hear the story nature told

Can't Fight the Moonlight

by

Ashley L. Rice

Who would have thought
we would end up this way
with love in our hearts
and the moonlight on our face
when i sit at night and think
of all the time that was wasted
i crave you7r loving arms so bad
my whole body can taste it
I tried to run away
I tried to deny it was there
but our two hearts were joined
by a thread as thin as a hair
You gave me my sight
when I was blinded by pain
another like you
I will never love again
you slayed my dragons,
and found my heart
locked up tight
But you had the key
and now I know I can't fight the moonlight

Come Here To Me

by

Ashley L. Rice

Let me come to you
let the taste of serendipity
roll off of your tounge
and into my heart
filling it
filling it more than anything ever has!
Now you come here to me
let the taste of serendipity roll off of my tounge
and into your soul
capturing it
And let my name be written
across your heart in blood
my blood
our blood
the elixer of our past
the recipe of our future
come here to me
give us a chance
and may our hearts forever stay
wrapped in a bond
of love and understanding
and if you shall ever
become lost along the way
I'll whisper the words
that so many say
yet so few mean
come here to me
come home
let me guard you
love you
and need you
come here to me
