Queen of the Prom

by

Elizabeth A. Reis

Dear Anne,
Tonight as I witnessed your crowning,
I was as proud as I could be,
I never dreamed, I'd ever be,
The "Mother of a Queen."

You were so radiant and beautiful,
In your bright and shining crown,
I never dreamed, I'd ever be,
The "Mother of a Queen."

The kiss that I gave you,
Let it always be,
My token of saying "Thank You,"
For making me,
The "Mother of a Queen."

A Little Piece of Paper

by

Elizabeth A. Reis

I am a piece of paper,
They made me out of wood,
Some girl is going to type on me,
Just like I hoped she would.

Those keyboard keys are hitting me,
Now there she made a mistake,
She's taking a rubber eraser to me,
Oh! for goodness sake.

Correction made, I'm ready to go,
She rolled me out so fast,
I almost hit the papercan,
Boy, am I glad of that.

Next, I go to be proofread,
Where they look all over me,
Then a guy named Gordon Reichenbach
Gets a chance to handle me.

Right thru the copier I go,
They take a picture of me,
The machine said "No", out you go,
The mat replaces me.

Oh well, my journey's ended,
For I'll soon be folded up,
Put in a window envelope,
Then licked and sealed up.

I'll say good-bye to all my friends,
Whoever handled me,
I've just been stamped and
On my way to Bala-Cwd, Pa.
