Joys of Love

by

John Redmond

My heart is filled with joys of love
My thoughts are sheer divine
My lips feel sweet against your skin
Which tastes like precious wine
My days are long like summertime
My nights like heavens sleep
And when Im not beside my love
My eyes they close and weep
I give my heart and soul to you
Forever and a day
Our love will last for ever more
Great joy in every way
So think of me in hours of need
Or when we are far apart
Just close your eyes blank out your mind
And saviour whats in your heart

Reality

by

John Redmond

Yes many years have passed indeed
Since I was young and wild
And even though my hair is white
I feel Im still a child
Ive dreamt of all the fantasies

That one dreams of in life
The dreams of gold and riches
But not the worries or the strife
Ive dreamt of sugar mountains
And the rain that tastes like rice
Dreamt of doing wonders
And all the things that's nice
But nights are getting shorter
And my dreams just make me cry
As my dreams are not reality
And its not long till I die

Dreams of Kelty

by

John Redmond

Ive started to dream of all the times when we were young and each day was
filled with joys
We would climb the hills and walk around the Lochs never giving a thought to
toys
We would climb our nearest mountain ,Benarty was its name
Or we would wander through the Weewoods, hunting all the game
The Meadows was our big swampland, and Loch Ore was our big sea
And many a raft or homemade ship was found sunk or floating free
Sometimes we would sit on the redden ash of the Aitken Bing so high
And dream of the wild strawberries at the back of the hill
And in the warmth of the sun we would just lie
We would gaze at the cooling towers,as they thundered like rain
And We would look at the grass with a mild distain
We would talk of the great times we have had there before
Like down at the Perch hole so black and so deep, or after the big trout
in the bay where they would sleep
Oh life was good when your young and so bold
But now its just memories and dreams when you get old

We ar the Scotsmen

by

John Redmond

We are the Scotsmen we are young and old
Sailed the world our stories told
Shared our honors, And set lands free
Thats made a life for you and me
We have a country where the grass is green
The purple heather a romantic scene
The snowy gowans on the roadsides bare
The pheasant flies in the autum air
We are the Scotsmen from a land thats ours
Tree's of Pine, smell like the summer flowers
We are the Scots and we know our place
Freedom calls throughout the land with grace

My Daddy was a GI

by

John Redmond

My daddy was a GI from the US of A
He went to fight the enemy in a big land far away
He left my mom cryin her eyes were full of tears
And I never knew I had a daddy for over 50years

I have wondered what my daddy was like
Was he big and was he tall
For I am just a big man like an old country wall
My eyes they are bright blue my hair is blonde and fair
Is this just how my daddy looked that night he was standing there

I never even met my mom and my daddy in all these years
And my heart has been full of sorrow and my eyes were full of tears
When I saw the children dancin and their hearts were full of joy
I wondered if my mom or daddy knew of their little boy

Well nearly 60years have passed and my eyes still fill with tears
And I will search the whole world over in my remaining years
To try and find my daddy just to maybe hear him say
Hello bigman I missed you and loved you every day
I ask you Lord to help me to find my daddy who must be old
My mom is already beside you and my story is nearly told

I dont want to be in the land of the free

by

John Redmond

I dont want to have a credit card I dont want a big bank loan
I dont want to live so high up That I buy things on the phone
I wont waste it having partys nor buying a coloured suit
Id rather live in poverty, than live on someone else's loot
I have always valued all I have, and never throw away a pin
I cannot understand these people that spend the prize before they win
I dont want to sip the cocktails nor drive a great big car
And think that the oil is never ending and drive 2000 miles because it isnt far
I dont want to live on fast food nor drink coffee that tastes like its jugged
I dont want to be in the house by seven in case Im robbed and mugged
I dont want to have a machine gun underneath my bed
In case some junkie comes at night to try and make me dead
I would just enjoy the quiet life with the struggles and the strain
And I know whatever happens I havent anything to gain
I will live the way like the olden days with dust and all the grime
But one thing I will be happy ,,until the end of my time

Christmas when your alone

by

John Redmond

Christmas Day Alone

One doesnt know its Christmas, when living alone
There is no songs in your head, or rings on the phone
You awake in the morning there are no thoughts in your head
No flames in your fire as you sit up on your bed
No Christmas pudding, no chicken no lights on a tree
Is living alone happiness... be honest is that being free
Gone are memories of a family and life
Gone are your children, your togetherness, your wife
You think of those days, where did I go wrong
Why is life not like the words in the song
Just being honest with oneself, is all that it takes
Facing the facts we are to blame, as we sit with the shakes
Whether its with drugs, drink or just our inner fears
Id rather know it was Christmas, than have a day with just
tears...
