Watching from the Shadows

by

Poornima Padmanabhan

Multiple clock hands perform
Clockwise motions
Solitary sun ray glints off sundial
Moonlight dances in
Shadows of yesterday’s courtyards_
With the bells_

Strangers jive
With cold hands and hearts
Glimpse hurricanes
Of souls in dry mating
Isadora Duncans dance
On flatulent glass still waters_
With the bells_

Children slide off wet killer rocks
And dream
Dragons and knights and ghosts
Come to life
Sun plays slow dance with sea
That wants to play hide n’ seek_
And the Phoenix_
He watches_
He sees_
