The Angry Doves

by

Jessica O'Dell

The Angry Doves
I have a silver gilded cage,
In which I keep my ivory doves.
They coe and glare with ceaseless rage,
For freedom lost to life long loves.
They think I hear not their singing,
I hear them day and night.
And for their loves, I know their wishing,
I understand their lonely plight.
One day I know I'll set them free,
That time I hope is drawing near.
And in the sunset, I'll watch them flee,
Knowing their soaring to what I fear.
