A Dried Up Stream

by

Robert W Mullin

A diied up stream from mountains high,
A rocky barren bed of sleep,
Its windrushed stones agleem,
But dead,-no more to live in surging deep,
Or nuture spawn or teeming life,
Like poets with dreams run dry,
And words that no longer thirst,
Abandoned with despondent cry,
No more to chant a souls lament,
Or draw upon that eternal spring,
Now dry, just dry,- so dry,
An empty lifeless thing.
