As Dawn Breaks

by

Lulu Martha Msiska

I stand by, innocent as a flower and watching as dawn breaks.
Hoping and wishing I were part of the simple pattern it makes.
Bright and beautiful, eventually starting to faze out, And what a short time it takes.

I sit by, staring into space and begin to dream.
Dream of how I would like to be directed by the wind;
And finally be taken somewhere I would like to be.
To finally and truly beam.

I pass by and see everything. What I would and wouldn't like to see.
Feel the pain and flickers of joy the world would like to show me.
That reminds me of the movement of water. Fast and slow. The sae.

I stand by, innocent as a flower, watching as dawn breaks.
Hoping and wishing I were part of the simple pattern it makes.
Bright and beautiful, eventually starting to faze out;
And what a short time it takes.
As dawn breaks.
