Fairy Tale

by

Ryan's Mom

Forever I thought was a fairy tale
Then he came, I thought it no more
But the knight, his armour shining
Has once again, rode right out the door.

Like a dreary night, fog thick and gray
My head is consumed with sorrow
I would trade any amount of wealth I have
For him to ride back into my life tomorrow.

It's true, I've heard the wise man say
That hearts are much like the rose
And with every knight that rips off a petal
It's a thorn that seems to grow.

Soon your heart becomes imprisoned
The thorns, like barbed-wire hold it at bay
Never to love again for fear
That the knight might steal it away.

So be weary my friend, of the shining knight
Who rides in too good to be true
His armour is covering a heart of pure stone
No love can he giveth to you.
