Sing To Me Once More

by

Margarita Lea Mills

Wind Chimes by my front door resonate
Peace and warmth from their crystal balls
Angelic sounds to my heart you’ve come
From far away to sit by my side once more
As you did when I was born
Winter sun daring to bronze my skin while I nap
Proves to be my friend when one I sought and not
Swirls of invisible breeze, makes the chimes
By my door dance exotically
Unveiling their masquerading inhibitions
Once believed to been truth, if so possible
For from others we have learned to pretend
To hide the truth to deceive ourselves
Peace and harmony with the afternoon sun
Creating fancy shadows on my face
While rocking on my chair peacefully
Observing the world leave me behind
With no tears left in my eyes or a word of regret
For I am old and wrinkled now waiting
To get on my way like the old faithful Oak
Strong but deciduous along with the goanna with no feet
And the dog with no fleas mistaken for caramel
They all come now with their sounds and their farewells
Serenading with harmonious harps
Drums, trumpets, and violins, all that I like
Making my skin crawl
Sweeping fears away later to return
Making it harder for the old bones to give up
Sweet melodic chimes sing to me once more
Before I depart this land.

Last Night My Love

by

Margarita Lea Mills

Las night my love_we burned in hot desire
Tumbling in a chasing game
Going along with the winds of the north, south
East and west that came along to play.
Last night my love memories revived
Of times when there was only you I
Burning in hot desire through our dreams
Our thoughts unifying us once more
Dreams that brought us together if only_
That was last night my love
Today you came to me
With memories of days gone by
Implanting images in my head
Through displays of affection and fondness
Leaving an eternal burned impression
That will never be erased or destroyed
New memories and faces will appear_
But the photo in our soul will never render.
Tomorrow my love_a new sun will shine.
Tomorrow my love. Tomorrow.

I Once Knew You

by

Margarita Lea Mills

Knowing you to be my friend
With humour to make my day
Looked forward to your daily smile
While at my desk I sat
Waiting for the screen to light up
Then a small jump my heart will skip
When your round yellow face I would see
Today, the face keeps coming ‘round
Not longer making a sound
For a new friend it has found
Nothing stays the same
He once said_how right you were my friend!
Not knowing I was the one
You would soon discard
Took your info as it came
Not looking past face value
Or viewing what beyond the window laid
As a friend, I knew you once,
Then you departed my life.

Gypsy Flair

by

Margarita Lea Mills

With wagons as walls Guarding their empire
Horses as centurions to guard out the undesired
The gypsies take over the night
While stamping, dancing feet on dry grounds,
Stare up dust, as they rapidly move about
Colourful skirts and lacy tops
Bewitchingly putting men under a spell with
Sensually displays of bronze skin
And oh! The scream of the gypsy baron!
Which chills one’s crown with its looks and
Masculine talent_ Statue of
Animalistic splendour_covered
With coins of gold and skin that shines from its
Dance, and the heat of the night
By a roaring and blazing camp-fire which
Hypnotises crowds with its seductive
Flames and its ambers
Men and women of all decades
Put their skills and knowledge to the test
Sounding their drums, conquering their guitars
Reciting poems of love, of peace, of energetic lust
Seducing each other_ With their movements
With their eyes, allowing their demons
Free if only for the night_ while
Sweet smells of tobacco fill the air
And billions of stars cover their heads like a
Mantilla, in a Spanish night as
They laid down their heads to rest.

Leaders or Criminals

by

Margarita Lea Mills

Leaders or Criminals
Now I lay down to sleep
Not because my mind wish to detach
Not because my eyes wish to shut
But because world’s issues tires my mind
Leaving behind a society that appals me
Politicians that meddle in other men’s businesses
And do not know how to say no
When it comes to an unfair fight involving all of us
Filling their pockets before their term is up
With money that will best serve an orphans plate
Peace and War, Tears and Laughter,
Hot and cold, our world is in turmoil!
White against Black, nations against nations
Because their language is not the same
Because they call their God by a different name
Because they sleep while others rise
As I lay down to sleep I think of the world
And the mess we find ourselves in
Of politicians returning to their seat
Looking older by the day yet with new found
Fame that seems to be worth the pain, if only to these men
Forgetting they are under contract
And that we voted them in, as we will vote them out
For their wages we pay to make us proud
As I lay down to sleep_I wonder whether we will be at war
Whether another day my eyes will see
Whether my children will be safe
Whether blood will be spilled
Over some politicians greed
My eyes are tired_I do not want to sleep
But exhaustion soon, will take over my resisting mind.
