A Unicorn's Love

by

Megwyn

The amber-green folds of her robe
Brushed against his side.
She then knelt down and stroked his mane
And calmed his mind inside.

The wind it started to sing its song;
Countermelody.
In rhythm with time it lulled him in
A sleeper's quiet plee.

The 'corn it fell asleep and then
Danger is despised.
Grabbed his love by the hair,
Not seen by his eyes.

The stallion awoke with fear inside,
Could not find his love.
Arose and flew on velvet wings
Into the night above.

He flew for hours not knowing where
Danger had taken his love.
With a scream he heard the crying plee;
A struck mourning dove.

He journeyed toward her voice and then
Glided next to thee.
Looked around and saw the rope
As she hung from a tree.

The tears they flowed; his heart got cold.
No longer did he care.
He stabbed at Danger through the chest.
Everyone beware!

With his head hung in sorrow,
His horn dripping red,
He flung himself off the cliff,
Onto his rocky bed.

If you should travel through the woods,
Where you don't belong,
You might hear the song of them,
No other love was stong.
