G;engarnock

by

Joseph McTaggart

Glengarnock

No longer glows the sky at night
Eerie orange from that steel so bright
They still fell though what they did was right
As I walk thorough a village called Glengarnock

The hills seem alive with mist and rain
Dead sheep killed for a politician’s pain
Same with the old chemical rain
As I walk through a village called Glengarnock

The old warehouses moan and creak
While people sign on for another week
Everyone wants but no one will seek
As I walk through the village of Glengarnock

My Grandfather’s village where he walked those streets
Dreaming of people he would never meet
Even the ground has gone that was beneath his feet
As I walk through the village of Glengarnock

Those streets once full of the working men
Now with CCTV for the news at ten
Just in case you happen to go round the bend
As I walk through a village called Glengarnock

The powers that be drive through every day
Closing their eyes to the things of dismay
Saying "Ah well tommorrow’s another day"
As I walk through the village of Glengarnock

Key tasks and spin as the place lies in gloom
While preachers predict that we are all doomed
A village once living which died so soon
As I walk through a village called Glengarnock

Hey Michael You Seem lost to me

by

Joseph McTaggart

Wandering in the town you look around
Taking in the people and the sounds
Those brown eyes so deep yet so profound
Hey Michael you seem lost to me

Asking can I help you find your way
Listening to the words you need to say
You expressed yourself so well the other day
Hey Michael you seem lost to me

Wanting waiting hoping for a word
To like me though to you it sounds absurd
Then I go and feel just like a nerd
Michael you seem lost to me

From afar you came here to stay
Looking searching for another way
I hope you keep in touch just maybe
Michael you seem lost to me

Dreaming

by

Joseph McTaggart

Sitting dreaming drafting things by hand
Like a child building castles in the sand
Brokers wanting deeds just on demand
Living in a world they call my own

Wanting waiting dreaming for the day
When we'll all know exactly what to say
Happy days will happen come what may
Living in a world they call my own

Writing thinking feeling things of old
Waiting for the stories yet untold
Creating blankets shelter from the cold
Living in a world they call my own

Living dying crying going insane
Wanting just to opt out of the game
Sheltered ones I take and them I claim
Living in a world they call my own

Light of Love

by

Joseph McTaggart

Maybe there's a light in my soul

maybe there's a neon bulb perched upon a pole

maybe there's been suffering in my life

forcing me to baton down

to the whims of fright

Maybe there are things we just can't see

Angels in white raiment flying all over me

maybe there's a girl I'm supposed to love

to fly with in the sky just like a dove

Maybe there's a light within myself

flashing like an ad for a dark hotel

flickering like a candle in the night

while with wings of love I try to fight.
