What Of Tomorrow

by

John William McGrath III

We water the flower of peace with our tears
The young pay with blood for the stiffnecked
Vanity saps the life from nature's bounty
The water and air is poisoned by the fanatics
Vengence for wrongs, real and imagined
Anger and hatred cloud man's minds today
With no thought or care for tommorrow's agony
Do they wish to live in rubble? Without food?
If man could, he would kill God! Oh! He did...

We know what you are thinking of
As displayed in unselfish love

Poetry Now

by

John William McGrath III

Poets of renown Penned simple truths
In flowery rhyme or like metaphor
The famous of today seem mechanics
Is this my imagination?

They use Latin nomenclature to excess
I can barely understand them
Their audience a selct few
No poetry for the masses

No pleasure in verse for the very young
No pleasure in songs to be sung
An endowment and fame
It is just not the same

Are we to follow this fad
If so, it will be more than sad
I can do this type of verse
But will it just be a terrible curse?

A great actor once said as dying
Dying is easy, comedy is difficult
I agree with the latter statement
Timing and grace in a clumsy fall
Crying and whinning about it all
One usually short, the other tall
Playing Sadsack but having a ball
Being chased running into a wall
And Falling from top of the mall
Getting up funny round as a ball
Now due to my boredom, curtain call

Attemping Humor - Humour

John William McGrath III

The cocklebells... er, what are cocklebells?
Nevermind, I'll look it up later, is that ok?
A women is discrete, and a man always tells
Maybe it's cockleshells, I'm having a day...

I wonder why, at weddings they throw rice?
And tying old boots on the back of a car?
I'm not sure I approve, It's not very nice
Especially if they have to drive very far

This is a computer, what's up with the poet?
Well if you don't like it, I'll finsh then
I need practice at this and we all know it...

Rhyme

by

John William McGrath III

It seems rhyme is now passe'
As it were for another day
Emoting prose fills the bill
This seems to be man's will

But I must here reiterate

Emoting flowery metaphoric verse
Bringing tears to my eyes or worse

Deep sobbing from Joyce's tome'
Francis' work complete's my day
So many others keep rhyme alive
Some of mine may even survive

What power do witches have?
And what is wicca?

Does witch make power?
What is the story on this?
Does power make witch?

I have done a search
It was casual for sure
Most witches seem good

Devil witches are nuts
Merry meet and merry part
So say the good ones

Then with harm to none
They seek the path of nature
And God is nature

Morning

And you are awake my dear

And now I awake to greet a new morning

Somewhere In Time

by

John William McGrath III

Somewhere in time I lost my way
It must have been in another life
For I have dreams of ancient days
Fighting for the end of strife

I was so clever with the sword
It did my speaking for me
I could have used a peaceful word
To make all the kingdom free

In these dreams I do not speak
My thoughts are on my people
And in my heart I always seek
The one within the steeple

I awake from these dreams aware
That my pillow is always wet
I know not if my tears are there
Or if it is just sweat

Sometimes I feel that I was doomed
I do know this thing I must desolve
And what is to be, will be consumed
If I will, hold firm in my resolve

Time and Time Again

by

John William McGrath III

Time and time again, I wonder, are we really here?
Or is this personality, just a thin veneer?
The spirit it is said, is much more than a soul
Just as is the fire, much more than the coal

There is a mind within us, we cannot penetrate
But we will find it is us, if we only wait
On very special moments, when everything is clear
You want to hold all you see close, to you, it is dear

You know everything is, in your essence it is true
It may seem heresy, there is nothing you can do
For heresy is a tradition, made by man for control
To keep you imprisoned, to never know your soul

But we know from the sciptures, God is All in All
To be a sudden descension, it would be God's fall
But God is in his heaven, and that is everyplace
And I see my blessed lord, in each and every face

A Simple Kindness

by

John William McGrath III

A simple little kindness
Can save a life my friend
Observing absent mindness
With good advice to lend

A smile and "how do you do?"
Can change an angry heart
While just a word from you
May reunite those far apart

Try to stay in your good form
Be proper, but also do be kind
There are exceptions to the norm
Do keep your own presence of mind

Learn , ALL Is Love

by

John William McGrath III

Many of us look for acclaimation
Others just for self-validation
What we get some of us earn
To another it is just to burn

Look at people everywhere
Find the ones that really care
Seek those to share with you
Hopes and dreams in all they do

Carefully assess each experience
Learn from every consequence
Seek the smoky bluish presence
Know that All is behind your essence

Goddess

by

John William McGrath III

Royalty wears purple on rare occasions
Do they know it signifies divine presence?

Wishing to be with her all your life
Where the exuberant are meek and coy
In her majesty lies the very end of strife

Going With Out

by

John William McGrath III

A new tomrrow
The same old way

Cactus And Sweat

by

John William McGrath III

Apache lore and stories bright
Brought to us by firelight
With embers left, we stir and poke
Musing on sisters of fire and smoke

The message came in cactus and sweat
What I saw made my eyes wet
The world has seemed to welcome war
Brought again to white man's door

But this time reaching far beyond
To every nation beyond the pond
And it can only be controlled
By the shamans grey and old

The Human God

by

John William McGrath III

Forcing opinions on others
imprisoning body and mind
when will it ever end?

The mind of man must awaken
Being a god is not ruling over others
It is overruling self
At least in a human body

The Parallel Door

by

John William McGrath III

What will be, will be
I have said this before
But there is freedom in me
And in you there is more

When the flags of death
Are being unfurled
We can take a fresh breath
In another world

Leaving this coming hell
For a place beyond the veil
Another world of parallel
Another life, another tale

A new heaven, a new earth
A fresh mind, a rebirth
Let them fight another war
I'm heading for, the parallel door
