Our Light

Weeds turn into flowers
with care and sunlight
but the shade from the trees
can put up a fight

but the plant that digs deep
and grows in other directions
feeds from the energy
that becomes its protection

for the days can get short
and the future looks bleak
but the plant who believes
will never be weak

so when the light from the sun
shines bright again one day
share your message of hope
your insperational ray

new fuel for the flame
fresh air for the dying
pollen for the bees
tissues for the crying

these tears fall with joy
for happiness is in the future
yet opportunity knocks
but i'm scared

rejection will happen
they say "history will repeat"
but will i take old steps?
Walking in these brand new feet

think and trust our power
step back and just let go
but i reach and grab carelesly
fear is here I know

my life can end any time
will I feel complete if I let go
can I earn a second chance?
sadly my brain says no

But my heart is what I follow
and mistakes I will endure
its the only thing i know
and why my love for her is pure

people do mature
and only time will show the truth
i wish i could share my life right now
and only time will tell the truth

my feelings for her lack lust
focused deep down and within
is that the right direction
for a friendship to begin?

my heart is due to be broken
and I do not know a sleuth
will she let me in?
only time will tell the truth
