Daddy Oh Daddy

Daddy Oh Daddy When mom passed away
She left you to face another day.

Alone you were left with not 1 child, not 2, not 3, 4, but Five, we could not believe she was not alive.

She was so young, only 42, now all of our lives depended on you.

With blood, sweat, & tears you pulled us through all the hard times we had through the years.

For us you sacrificed most of your life-and not to have taken another wife. Your love for mommy was just so strong, to marry another would feel so wrong.

Many years have passed now & we are all grown, we have our own children & we have our own homes.

As I sit here & write this on Father's Day, I guess what I really want to say is Thank you for being our mother & father, always there for us, never a bother.

Always so sweet, gentle & kind, always there to get us out of a bind.

Daddy Oh Daddy, I'm so sad today, for now you have left us & gone away.

I miss you, I need you, I just want to talk, to sit on the porch, or take a short walk.

You suffered so much but now that is over, give mom a hug and tell her I love her.

Daddy Oh Daddy, It's time for you to rest, for you as my father . . . I was truly blessed.
