Across The Bay

by

Mars

Could I,
I would sing,
To you in the distance.
Endeavoring to reach,
Your deafened ears.

I would sing,
The song of us,
The one you chose,
To symbolize,
Our straightened path.

But sentenced,
To the solitary,
I listen to your melody,
Wafting faintly,
To my ears.

Like those prisoners,
At Alcatraz,
Strained to hear,
The freedom music,
Wafting faintly,
To their ears,
From Sausalito,
Across the bay.
