the abbey

by

Philip Malt

the once proud abby now stands all alone
proud and detiant against the cold winds
a monument to faith and ages long gone
crumbleing stone is all thats whats left

the friars to whom the abbey belonged
have since gone but their legcy survives
beautfuil stained glass windows
now stand all empty and bare

gone are the friars who walked its halls
sung its hyms and knealt in praise
only a erie yet beautfuil silence remains
when darkness falls and the stars begin to shine
