We shared so much, but now your love is gone.
We had a wonderful time, but you left my heart alone.
You loved me truly for this I know,
But through the wall over your heart, your love could never show.

We talked, we laughed, we loved, we shared.
You listened, you protected, you learned, you cared.
Oh how I longed to tell you how I felt,
But my heart could not deal with the cards that yours had dealt.

We could not show our feelings because we were so scared,
But no other feeling has, or ever will compare.
Even though last summer will be forever gone,
In my heart you will forever live on.
