ladybug

the distance a shooting star falls
matters not to those wishing
the distance between two hearts
matters not to those knowing
that love
as vast as the universe
is never bound by time nor space
but lives on eternally
like a heavenly body
aglow and fresh
a new fallen snow
or dew on the grass
where the ladybug crawls
and tests her wings
realizing she can fly
to a place
where she can feel
the gentle wind
stroking her black spots
admired by all
from near and far
for the beauty
of her round red body
the color of hearts
intertwined
and bound
for eternity

Fragrant Harbor (Hong Kong)

gold shop windows aglow
glittering bright shinny 24K yellow
shooting rays like sunbeams
casting light on passersby
while they rush about
yelling into cell phone necklaces
chattering urban birds on a wire
all the while competing with the
constant du du du du du
machinegun drone of jackhammers
as the armies of pedestrians
move like giant centipedes
through overhead mazes of walkways
looking down upon
crawling cars and buses
toys of yellow and red
Chinese colors of long life and prosperity
gold characters on round red paper lanterns
swaying in the ocean breeze
to the sights and sounds of the Orient

into my dreams
my bed
my life

And as the light comes
you sneak away
only to return again the next night

Iím returning to a life you canít enter

Will you still come to me
in the darkness of the night
will you still slip into my room
into my dreams
into my bed
into my life

And how will I explain you
to he who shares my bed
and my life
when I call out your name
in my dreams
as you sneak away

How will I explain that
