inspired

by

Fernando M. Lujan

innocence is such a fragile word
barely definable, yet so precious
need without form, hope without cause
and somehow real despite it all

do you cry for beauty

it lingers just beyond outstretched
teases the desperate gesture
a whisper in the dark, a touch imagined
the weeping of an angel

do you see eyes watching

only as real as this life
a dance in a landscape drowned with color
as in a dream, a final glance behind
regret for a moment forgotten

do you want to live forever

silence is a lie
screamed by a thousand gaping mouths
the stark realization, the blinding white
then youth lay dying

and all of the prayers
and all of the prayers

nothing remains but the moment
