Until Today

by

Jim C. Little

We were lovers, but drifted.
Apart we grew, without a relationship
to guide us. You were you, I was I, Lives
seperate we began to lead. Then, with the
push of seven digits, you were back, and all
seemed right again. I had loved and lost,
but it seemed as if my love was found again.
Until today, when the truth was told,
leaving me to sit on a road deserted. Until
today, when the monster reared it's head,
spewing lies as putrid as the breath from
which it spoke. Until today, when I became
as the puzzle in my basement, frustrating,
alone, and missing pieces.

Until Today, we were lovers but drifted.
Apart we grew, without a relationship to
guide us. You are you, I am I, lives
seperate we will lead once more.
