Breathless Womb

by

Nancy Lamkin

I desire not a place in of my world
For the sake of the conspiracy amongst the flocks tomb
A sharpened dagger cuts my breathless womb
As life sometimes a battle to live...
For what be purposely living
Estranged, I most often feel as even my comrades
Contemplate my dispise from fear of me...
And what do I project that sends them weary
Love above the times and beyond the mirror...
Beyond self I give and accept my freedom
To embrace though sometimes never feel comfort
Sacrifice my day to a thought of tomorrow
Seeing of more than forty days and nights...
Following a presence of mind that implodes death
Bringing to the present, right!
I give honestly, lovingly, and thoroughly
I will not be betrayed by tomorrow
And my days will be tales in my child’s memories
And the truth they will seek in me...
My counterparts will remember more than not
My stubborn but earnest love
And will say I did not die without first living...

Clothing For The Soul

by

Nancy Lamkin

Here I lie in full garment
Undressing my fleshy tone
And to death for death
I uncover the color of my soul
The spirit that survives within me
Given by a God of throne
High Archie Highest Calls
My spirits peace
He to me peace now bestows
Calling, return to this world
The garment upon you I have clothed
Calling to you I your Father
Your flesh food for on earth growth
Do not grieve as process goes
For variety colored flesh
Was only clothing for the soul

Steady As I Go

by

Nancy Lamkin

My world trembles beneath me
No grasp to hold me down
Life experience has taught me
Below the surface solid sounds
Of future walks of being
So while past fears do fall
And recognized through passage
There is no ground at all...
Sometimes only a place to lie my head
I know this feeling past not dead
For me or no man smart
Simply the power not possessed
To detour what lies ahead
And as the world evolves
I balance my footing upon it’s ridges
And walk along its rough edges
Stepping steady to what I know...
