Beneath The Stars & By The Shore

by

Liz Kyonka

If I lived for one night only,
T'was the night I wasn't lonely
Five days gone, and then three more
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

There was a time I felt no pain
I will relive that time again,
Staring at beauty galore
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Sky above and sea below,
All around, the wind doth blow;
Whis'pring tales of Mayan lore
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Birds fly slowly through the air
Singing softly, without care
Fish swim on the ocean floor,
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Under my feet there is white sand,
With palm trees on either hand
I've been here many times before,
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Kelp and coral on the beach,
Sand castles faintly out of reach.
Coconuts the green palms bore,
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Eternal life, eternal bliss,
A childhood moment, my first kiss.
A sweet young story, shut the door,
Beneath the stars, and by the shore.

Don't look to the future
Or dwell in the past;
But live for the moment,
As long as it lasts.
